I hope your Monday went well, mine was a little busy and interesting. Brooklyn came over after daycare and spent the night. We will be working in the yard today, that little 4 year old is such a good helper! I had some mulch delivered for the side of our house and I struggle picking a bag up at times. I want you girls to know that kid would grab a bag and drag it to me. Those bags are heavy ladies and she was outdoing me! HA!!! I went shopping at Walmart and stocked up on some essentials in clothing. I have styled items before and some times you can find some really great deals – and I did on my trip! I was looking for a 4th of July tee and to my surprise, I didn’t find anything, but I did find some red and blue! I’m showing 2 different looks with the same shorts today. There are so many ways you can style these! Add a denim shirt tied at the waist or left unbuttoned with a camisole underneath and that would be a cute option too! I found these white denim 4.5-inch shorts with a ragged hem made by Time and Tru. These shorts are well worth the $13, they fit as well as American Eagle shorts or any other big brand company. It kind of surprised me just how good they do fit. I like the short length, it’s perfect for me and it has spandex in the material so you really have some give and comfort while wearing them. These shorts come in denim colors also, see the shorts HERE. I am wearing a size 8 for reference. This cute top was perfect for my holiday attire added with the shorts or a cute pair of cropped jeans or pants would look so cute. I styled a great pair of white cropped pants HERE that would look very cute with this top and cute sandals with heels or flats. This top is only $9.94 and comes in 4 different colors. Sizes are S-XXXL, see the tops HERE. This top is by Time and Tru also, it has a boatneck, fits TTS, and it has a 4.5-star rating! I am wearing a Medium for reference. To shake things up if you are in an area in the US that is not having a HEAT WAVE – or you might be cold natured, this navy Summer Diamond Stitch Cardigan from Cato Fashions. I did find a few navy cardigans at Walmart, but they were almost sold out online, so I pulled out my Cato Cardigan. This is a perfect cardigan, it’s very lightweight and perfect for chilly nights. This comes in Sizes XS-XL, 100% rayon, and has 3/4 length sleeves. See the cardigan HERE. I paired it with a red Essential Basic Tank, I always size up on my tanks because they shrink so much! I am wearing a Large HERE. These come in a multitude of colors and are a great price point! you never can have too many camisoles, right? I think you can see the shorts length a little better in the closeup picture. I know a lot of women my age do not like wearing shorter shorts and like I said earlier, these are perfect! Ok girls, this post is kind of short since we are going to be working in the yard today. I hope you all have a great day!! What are you girls up to? And who else is having a heat wave coming through? WOW! The heat index is so hot here it is crazy, you walk outside and your makeup seems to melt off. How many of you are having that problem? Your makeup feels oily, or it just feels heavy with the summer heat? I wear a wax based foundation when I am taking pictures, but today I brought back out the Radiance Defense. It’s like a tinted makeup, but it’s not a makeup nor a tinted moisturizer. What it does do is cover your face perfect and you don’t feel like your face is ooey or gooey! I apologize for this post going out so late, I was up pretty late last night and “life” happened this morning. I am having such a hard time sleeping here lately and I have no clue why! I suppose it is menopause, boy I do not like menopause one bit! WHY did Eve have to pick that doggone apple???!!!! We had a great time yesterday at the University seeing all the Pre Med students coming in. How proud those parents must be of their children! I think I have told this before, but my dream was to be an Orthopedic Surgeon since I was in 9th grade. I was just about to start out on that dream when my Father suddenly passed away and I ended up staying with my Mom. I opted to work and go to school while I stayed with her and well, the rest is history. I was never able to fulfill my dream to be in medicine. God had a different plan for me and I could not see it at such a young age. He knew I would make mistakes and my journey would ultimately bring me to my knees to ask for his forgiveness and his help. The path I was taking in the Fashion Industry was NOT what I wanted for my life – I wanted MD at the end of my name and I was willing to work for it. God knew my Mom would need me and I would take the road that kept me close to her. That one little decision changed my life forever. I learned so much in a few short years from why mom about spiritual things. I learned how to pray, I learned what fasting really meant, I learned what being persistence and perseverance meant and how those few things would mold my spiritual person into what God wanted for me. I took a lot of hard bumps through life and learned how to call on God, not only for the big things but the small things. I learned that through my darkest hours that he was there holding my hand. Even though I thought he wasn’t, I later could see where he was not only there – he was carrying me through those trials and tribulations. Do not ever doubt God, know that he sees all things and knows your future. He can take a mistake and turn it into a reward for you. Do not question things, have trust in God knowing that he is there to carry you through the small storms and the storms that are a Cat 5 Hurricane! My dream of being a surgeon was not what I needed and it was not God’s intent for me. He knew I would need the guidance of my mother to teach me and train me in the Bible more than she ever did while I was a child. He had a plan for me and he knew certain things would have to happen in my life that would break me and bring me to my knees and become a willing servant. I don’t look back and think about what could have been. I look back and thank God he loved me enough to steer me where he wanted me. No matter if the road to him was going to be heartbreaking and devastation to me emotionally (and it was folks! It was!!), it was worth every tear because I’m rich in HIM! And one day he is going to call me home, where he has prepared a place for me. I tell Barry all the time, I don’t care what kind of a house I live in – God knows me better than I know myself and I’m going to have a home in Glory that is hooked up!!!!!! These worldly things I do not care about, I care about where my soul rests after I take that last breath here on earth. And I cannot wait to get to heaven one day and see all of you (my sisters in Christ) oh what a time it will be!!!! Love to you all!!! My heart is overflowing and gushy today LOL!! I hope everyone has had a great week and looking forward to a quick Friday to get the weekend started! Brooklyn is coming for an entire week today and I am so excited! Her mom is going on a trip to Ireland – I am so jealous! Meanwhile, back here in NC…I stayed home yesterday and spent the day going through boxes of clothes to start trying on. Truck Club, Amazon Prime Wardrobe and Stitch Fix came in one day. I was overwhelmed, so I pushed all the boxes to the side and decided on the Truck Club box. ‘This Truck Club Box was HUGE ladies, this was my first one and I was very surprised with all the clothes that were in it. I did manage to pick out a few pieces that I liked for the blog. A few pieces were just NOT me at all and some pieces looked so horrible on, I could not gather the nerve to snap a picture or out you girls through what I saw LOL! The Try On Haul This is a Gibson X International Women’s Day Rebecca Scalloped Wrap Top, whew…that was a long name! This comes in Curvy and Regular sizes and is super cute on. When I first pulled it out of the box I was not thinking this would be a top I liked. Once I got it on, I did think it was cute and would look super cute with lighter washed jeans. This is a great top for work or church. I liked the wrap style, it’s shorter in front and longer in the back, so it gives you the “half tucked” look. It’s $59.00, you can get it HERE. It fits TTS also. Notice the neckline – it is scalloped and looks so feminine! I’m not much of a tie-dye type person, but I kinda liked this tee! It runs a bit large, so if you like this Tee, I would size down. It’s called the Perfect Vintage Organic Cotton Tee, it is really soft and I could see myself laying on the couch eating popcorn, binge-watching Netflix in this! It’s $28.00 and comes in sizes XS-XL. If you like a good Tie-Dye Tee, then this is a good one to add to your wardrobe! Get it HERE. Notice the white sandals I am wearing. I disliked these sandals from the get-go! They were hard to get my foot in, they didn’t feel right on my foot and to top it off they are $127.95. I could not believe the price on these sandals! They are Maelynn Slide Sandals by Rebecca Minkoff if you look closely in the picture you can see where my foot won’t slide all the way in. Heads up on these! NO!!!!!!! This was Barry’s favorite outfit out of all of the pieces I received. I did like this top a lot, but I promised myself I was only going to buy one item. This top hangs on your hips and waist perfectly! The ruched side detail is so cute and I loved the wrap front. This is by Chelsea28, called the Wrap Tank Top, it’s $59.00 and very well made. This comes in a gorgeous artic blue, a coral pink, leopard print and the tan cashew that I am wearing. The blue is GORGEOUS! I’m not going to lie, I may end up getting this one! Wouldn’t this look super cute with some white skinny jeans and cute sandals?? I think I just sold myself on this one HAHA! Shop the blouse HERE. The jeans are NYDJ Ami High Waist Stretch Skinny Jean, these are on sale right now for $76.30! They are nicely made skinny jeans and these have the lift-tuck technology that slims you from within. And boy do they! These jeans kind of lift you up in the bottom and pull you in around your stomach. If these are in your budget, I would highly recommend getting these! Get them HERE. The outfit below was probably my favorite outfit out of everything. I really liked the Vince Camuto black top and the Hudson jeans fit perfect. I liked the top because of the side detail, it didn’t look like a normal top and this blouse can be worn both casual and dressy. So this one stayed with me! The Hudson Jeans(Collin Skinny Jeans) are some of the best fitting jeans I have ever put on and they feel very expensive. They have 2 buttons at the waist and cute pockets in the back, they have a good stretch in them also. I went back and forth about buying these jeans, but I’m going to end up returning them – I just can’t justify $125 on a pair of jeans. Maybe I’m too tight LOL!! If these were a denim color, I probably would have kept them. get the blouse HERE and the Hudson jeans HERE. The Vince Camuto Mixed Media Tie Front Top is on sale for $39.99 right now. They also have it in a slightly longer sleeve in coral, blue, peach, sage and tulip lilac and they are very Spring looking! See those blouses HERE. I do not think they are on sale, they are $69.00. Can we just talk about these shoes?? When I first saw them they did not appeal to me not one bit. After I tried them on and saw how they looked in the mirror, I was starting to change my mind. These are by Toms and called the Junie Slide Sandal, they are $99.95 and come in a gorgeous orange cabana color, I will drop a picture below!! Get the Slides HERE. Tall girls – you’re going to feel like a GIANT in these shoes! I put them on and instantly felt like I was 6’4″. You girls know these went back, I have to keep things that I’m actually going to wear on a weekly basis and these are not. They are cute on, but they are cuter in that box! I’m really keeping it real with you girls today, huh? LOL Help solve the debate between Barry and I..the black top or the wrap tank top??? I don’t know about you girls, but the older I get, I am really despising going to the doctor’s office. Some of my allergy medicine got switched and boy did it make me loopy and give me the worse migraine. Who knew I would be so sensitive to a prescription change??!! I stopped by the Boutique and got a few things done that needed immediate attention and while I was there I decided to try on a few new arrivals. The kids at the store got me to try on these white flare jeans and to be honest…I looked at them and said, “Are you crazy??”. I decided to go ahead and try them on, so I got my size and headed to the dressing room, then I got called upstairs to help with a computer issue. I came back down and started to try on the jeans and I thought, Oh my GAHHH…I thought I lost weight..these things are tight as a tick on a puppy! One of the teenagers there asked if everything was ok and asked me to come out. I told them I wasn’t coming out with those skin-tight jeans on! I heard snickering…I told them I needed a bigger size and then they enlightened me that they switched the pants for a smaller size when I went upstairs! HA!! Kids sure do keep you feeling young HAHAHA! That is totally something I would do…payback for me I guess LOL! I ended up liking the jeans and honestly, if they had not pushed me into trying them on I would never know I like flared jeans! I like them, but one pair is enough for me. These are YMI white distressed flare jeans and I’ve looked them everywhere on the internet. I found them at the YMI website for $42.00. they come in sizes 3-13 and are SUPER stretchy! I’m wearing a size 7. Get the jeans HERE. I have given more options if flared is not your thing in the Shop The Post below. I am wearing a sleeveless black top that is older, so I found some really cute alternatives below. This is a really cute outfit that you could wear a longer cardigan or kimono with and flip flops or sandals and look so cute! I grabbed my Handwoven Round Rattan Bag to go with this outfit – it looks so beachy! These little bags are everywhere this summer and if you haven’t gotten you one, you need to! It’s a cute addition to your Spring/Summer wardrobe. This one is $39.87, I have put a cheaper version in the STP below. When shopping for these, open these up to make sure you have enough room to drop a wallet and such in. I have found that a lot of these round bags have openings that are only a few inches. Get this bag HERE. The jewelry is simple, but makes a statement! I am loving white more and more for my jewelry color and I have fallen in love with the bigger fan earrings. These are NOT heavy at all and honestly, they are not a bad price either. I found these from Red Dress Boutique, these are the Never Overlooked Ivory Statement Earring. I have worn these a lot over the past week and they are light as a feather! These are only $22 and come in a gorgeous gray/pewter also. Get the earring HERE. I chose the Silver Night 3 Wrap Bracelet from Jbloom Designs. If you haven’t tried a wrap bracelet, I will go ahead and tell you that you will LOVE it! Gives the stacked look and it’s not heavy or in the way when you are on a computer. It’s adjustable also, it has about 5 holes that you can choose to adjust to fit your wrist. I’m on my way out the door for my annual doctor’s visit so I’ve got a quick post about beauty hacks! Every girl should know these…just in case LOL! Hate to be so quick, but I’m running late. Hope you like these beauty hacks – I’ve used every single one of them! If you have any of your own, drop me a comment – I’d love to have some weapons in my arsenal! So, if you are like me – there always comes a time when you are getting ready and the horrible, OMG – I’ve run out of a product- test of faith comes, how will you manage without your eyeliner? Or blush? Or lipstick??? I’m going to share with you a quick little blog on how to handle these situations that normally happen when we are late for work or the dreaded MONDAY! My blush hack? Well, I did run out of my blush – well actually I think it was ripped off by my teenage daughter. If you have one of those, then I’m sure you know how they LOVE to rummage through mom’s stuff and never put it back…Sighhhh.  OK, so when I ran out I really had to think, Hmmm, should I try lipstick? I’ve seen that beauty hack before. Wasn’t quite sure about that, so I opted for using a pink/coral color eyeshadow, yes, I said eyeshadow LOL! I took my lip brush and ran it across the eyeshadow, tapped the brush to get off excess and Voila! I had blush and it wasn’t going to be sticky nor would it smear during the day. Try that one sometimes ladies….LOVE IT! It’s great even when you want to mix up your look! Speaking of eyeshadows, have you ever considered putting it on your lips for a new lip color? I use a waterproof concealer, of course, I use Limelife by Alcone, (these products really are the best!) over my lips first, then I apply my eyeshadow color with a lip brush. Yes –  it’s a lifesaver and it’s easy…..and you can give it the ombre look by applying just a tad bit of concealer on your lips in the middle!! You can also use bronzer as blush, on your lips and eyes. I used the Bronzer on eyes, cheeks, and lips below. My eyeliner hack is a pretty common thing now, use eyeshadow as your eyeliner! Yes, this is becoming quite common, but make sure you are dipping your brush into a setting spray so it locks it in and never smudges! Mascara? Did you know if you heat it up it will go on much better? We are all girls here, so I will tell ya – yep, I’ve put it in my bra while I was getting to ready to warm it up with my body temperature. Does it work? Heck yeah! One more thing, if your mascara is drying up or clogging, add a few drops of saline solution or Visine. It’s the beginning of the weekend! I have to catch you up on the FWTFL program and how I’m doing. So far, I am LOVING this program. I am eating more food than ever, I’m not stuffing myself with snacks anymore, and I’m actually sleeping better at night. I’m not going to lie, I was wary of this program and if it would really work. Ladies, it is working! Took me some time to adjust to eating right and carb cycling, but it’s working! I even had a blogger friend, Susanne, from Thompson Hill Blog, let me in on how to enjoy my coffee in the morning. She told me to get the coffee flavored syrups and boy do they make a HUGE difference! I’m using Torani Sugar-Free Classic Caramel and Vanilla. They make your coffee taste so good! A little splash is all you need for flavor!! I was out doing some shopping yesterday and stopped by a few of my favorite stores. I got to tell you girls what happened to me at J Crew! Has anyone ever had a dressing room mishap? Let me tell you mine…I tried on a denim one-piece jumper, no zippers – you just pull it up and put your arms in. It went on perfect, but when I got ready to take it off…I about freaked out! Let me set the scene (lol), when I walked in it was immediately hot in the store. Their AC was on the fritz, so it was WARM in there. When I tried to get my arms out of this jumper, I literally could not get it off. I struggled and struggled to the point I broke out in a sweat! I had to sit down and relax for a few. All I could think was, “oh my gosh, I’m going to have to wear this home and cut it off!” It was $128 (50% off), I was NOT buying this jumper! After calming down and cooling off, one way or another that baby was coming off. What goes on must come off! Note to self…Do not try on any more jumpers without zippers! They have everything you want- a stretchy waistband, a cute tie belt and flowy to give you a summer, beachy look! These are the Striped Wide Leg Cropped Pant, they are $69.99, fits TTS (I’m wearing a Medium) and comes in sizes XS-XL. Get the pant HERE. I paired it with a simple button-down white shirt. I thought it really gave it that beachy look I was going for. This would look so cute with some pretty light brown sandals – I can see me wearing this at the beach this summer. The pants have a lot of stretch in them and are very comfortable when sitting. If I’m out shopping I try to always give a pair of pants the “sitting test” before buying! Am I the only one doing that? I found some cute mules, Loafer Slides that looked great with the outfit. I have completely forgotten about mules for Spring! I can’t believe this slipped my mind!
