I’ve been trying out and looking for different beauty products that are easy on my budget but also that I enjoy using and are worthy of a switch. After trying out different products, I pulled together the ones I am using daily, and to be truthful, I cannot tell a big difference from the more expensive products I was using. Surprisingly, these new products have made my makeup and complexion look much better, and I couldn’t wait to share them with you girls! Many of you may be like me and looking for different ways to cut back, and if that is so, these may be a few products you want to try. I have to mention this product as well. This is the E.L.F. Halo Glow Liquid Filter. I bought this in three colors: light, medium, and a darker color for contouring, just to see how I could mix and match them for sculpting and highlighting. This product is only $14, and it is as good as any high-end product, in my opinion. It’s infused with hyaluronic acid, so it’s working on your skin all day long and gives you a beautiful glow! This is the Ultimate Neutral Palette, and I literally grab this nearly every day because the neutrals are perfect for any eye color and great for an everyday work look. Over 40 Skincare Tips From My Dermatologist

Today I am sharing “This Not That” recommendations from my dermatologist for all women, but more focused on women over 40 who are seeing the signs of aging or who are in or near menopause. If you are experiencing thinning hair, fine lines, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and all the other “fun” things that happen as we age…this is for you! **As a reminder, I am not a doctor, so be sure to check with your doctor or dermatologist before trying new products. One of the first signs I saw that I was starting to go through menopause was my hair thinning out. I have been using Biotin for years, so when the dermatologist said that I should stop that and start taking Vitamin D, I was shocked. See it here. She also recommended using Tretinoin with Minoxidil will help regrow and thicken my hair. I found Minoxidil at Walmart, see it here. I get my Tretinoin (Retin-A) from NuRx which helps with fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and sun damage. You can get a non-prescription by Neutrogena that she recommended here. More supplements to help with thinning hair that she recommended were Ashwagandha (reduces stress which causes hair shedding), Iron (if deficient in iron, excessive hair shedding can occur), and Nutrafol (targets hormones, free radicals, poor nutrition, stress, and inflammation). Another supplement she recommended was Heliocare Advanced for skin health that not only helps with protecting the skin against aging effects, but it will also make a noticeable difference in the look and feel of your skin. See it here. If you are starting to see signs that your skin is losing elasticity, try MEDIX 5.5 Retinol +Ferulic Acid. She recommended this for the body, and I can already see a change in firmness in my legs and arms, and no more crepey skin. It leaves your skin so soft and smooth, I know you will love it as much as I do. See it here. *I use this immediately after showering in the morning and about an hour before I go to bed. For a deeper exfoliation that helps with pore congestion and improve skin radiance, she recommended The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. This is a more affordable solution, and it has over 34K reviews. See the exfoliator here. Since menopause, I have battled dry skin and have tried numerous lotions, exfoliators, etc. This 40% UREA Cream helps remove dead skin so much better than exfoliating in the shower! She recommended I apply this to my legs and arms (those are my driest areas), then wait about 10-20 minutes and rub my skin with my hands. I was shocked to see the dead skin roll off, I use this about twice a week. See the UREA cream here. *Use it on your feet for baby-soft feet! If you want to incorporate a Vitamin-C Serum into your skin regimen, this serum by Mad Hippie was her suggestion. I love trying new beauty finds and I have a drawer full to prove it, lol! Every now and then I find products that I really like and I find myself using them all the time. Today I am sharing some of my favorite beauty items (many are Best Sellers) that I have been using and I think you ladies may like them too. Sharing is caring…at least that’s what Brooklyn has been telling me since she was 3…so I’m sharing! I’ve added these in list form to make it easier to read about them. Hope you enjoy the post! What Is Coming… These two products will be in Friday’s post so I decided to share these early before they get gone, especially since the Tan Saddle Crossbody is on sale. The Bow Wrapped Heel Booties caught my eye while I was in the store, but they were sold out in my size, so I ordered them online. These are so cute with jeans and skirts; I know I will wear them with my spring dresses. The booties have a 3.5-inch heel and are surprisingly easy to walk in, plus…they are SO cute! I keep this in my fridge and pop it on and I 100% recommend this if you suffer from headaches or sinus pressure. I just bought this for my mother and she loves it also. It’s cool and the snug fit helps relieve normal headaches without any medication. SACHEU Stainless Steel Gua Sha Facial Massage Tool to Reduce Puffiness, and Lymphatic Drainage – I bought this a few weeks ago and have been using it daily. I was a big jade or rose quartz face roller, but I like this stainless steel one much better. This one stays cool without putting it in the refrigerator, glides effortlessly across your face, and does help with puffiness. First Aid Kit – I have always had a first aid kit in the house, but I recently decided to buy a few things to keep in my car since I have been taking my brother to therapy and all his doctor’s appointments. We are literally on the road 4 days a week, so this is great to have “just in case”. These are under $30 and come in more colors and I love the motion sensors! Hello Fall Wall Decor – this one comes with 10 interchangeable sayings for different times of the year. BEZOX Makeup Sponge/Beauty Blender Holder – I like to use these to keep my blender in for travel and for day-to-day. Much more sanitary than throwing my blenders in a drawer. This is a top seller also! Cold Face Gel Ice Pack – This is another great product to help with puffiness and allergies. Also helps with dark circles, helps shrink pores, and calms acne-prone skin. Pilates Ring Circle – If you are starting to see the loss of muscle in your legs or arms from aging or menopause, this little trick really does work. It’s an updated version of the Thigh Master (anyone remembers those…and did you have one? 😁) This also comes with cards that show different exercises you can do with this. Today I am sharing all the Top Faves and Best Sellers from Amazon, from my favorite outfits to skincare and beauty items we are loving! This post is packed full of all kinds of cute items and must-have anti-aging essentials for women over 40. I have compiled all the top products from my IG Stories, all social media, and the blog. Humidity and Hair, What I Keep In My Arsenal

I love living in North Carolina, but there are a few things that are somewhat of a pain to deal with. The biggest for me is the humidity, with naturally curly/wavy hair, fighting the instant heat and humid weather when going outside can take a great hair day to one of my worst. Have you noticed the bun style is a go-to for me? That’s mainly for a quick easy hairstyle working from home, but it is also the answer to my hair curling when it rains or the humidity level is as high as Jack’s Beanstalk! It gets that bad at times! Nothing can ruin freshly styled hair or a full face of makeup quite like humidity can. And the humidity in North Carolina is intense all summer long. And over the years, I’ve had to figure out some of the best ways for managing humidity and still maintaining my hairstyle + makeup. Humidity can cause frizz and unwanted and volume that can be out of control. Or it can totally weigh down and flatten your freshly styled locks to look like your hair has suddenly stuck to your head. In general, my hair flattens and gets limp in humidity (although my longer bangs can have a wave and curl all of their own – which is sooo annoying ) so a lot of my choices for combatting the negative effects of humidity are done in order to keep my hair from completely deflating and looking heavy in the heat. My Tips and Tricks Sometimes, the least amount of product the better, especially if humidity makes your hair flat. The goal is to keep your hands out of your hair so try to use just enough product for the desired result, set your hair in place, and then keep your hands off of it! This is not my strong point…just saying, lol! If you are fighting frizz, use a cream-based product before you blow-dry. This is usually heavy enough to add a bit of weight and hold to the airy flyaways. This may sound crazy, but I’m a believer in it! I rarely wash my hair in the shower, in my opinion, my hair never does well and it looses its volume even in the winter. So, I normally shower at night and wash my hair in the sink in the mornings. I use a cream based conditioner, but I only apply it halfway down the shaft of my hair and focusing on the ends. If I put it on my roots, my hair flattens with an hour of blowdrying. I also love the Redken Oil For All and apply it to ONLY my roots while wet. If it will be very humid, I use 1 pump, grab a towel to get the excess off my hands then rake my fingers through my hair to give it a little shine and help with frizz. To get volume I need, I typically left my hair dry in a towel till it is about 80% dry. I flip my head over and dry it Then I start drying it, lifting it up at the roots at the crown of my head sides, and back with a wide pick. This helps keep my volume during the day. Play the fun video (for kicks-real life going one, ha!!), and don’t mind the unfinished “renovation” going on in the back. We will finish up once the kids have moved! 🙌🏼 Also, you can see that I have had the same haircut for many years, only the length changes. In the summertime, I try very hard not to use hairspray, but sometimes its a necessity! I seriously feel this weighs it down and when the humid heat grabs hold, it seems to make things worse on my hair. However, if all else fails, spray a toothbrush with some hairspray and comb the flyaways around your face and part down. The small bristles shouldn’t affect your style too much, and the hairspray should hold everything in place! Amika’s The Shield is my favorite aerosol product to spray on my styled hair before I finish with hairspray. Used on straight or curled hair, it’s a big help to keep frizz at bay without adding weight to the hair for those who like volume. Virtue’s Create Lifting Powder is my choice for adding thickness and bulk without loading up on a texture spray during the humid season. I love texture spray, don’t get me wrong, but on a humid day, I find that a little powder at my roots is enough to add a “pop” to the hair without coating it too much. Not pictured, but worth mentioning, is Kenra Volume 25 hairspray. It does help fight humidity, I apply a small amount when using, but gives a firm hold to the hair, and is one of my very favorite hairsprays! When it comes to makeup, use a makeup primer that you love and set your makeup with a setting spray. Urban Decay’s All Nighter is one of the strongest, most effective setting sprays I’ve used when it comes to maintaining your makeup in humidity. Another favorite is Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray, this is what I have been using for the past few months, and I have not had any problems, in fact, it is one of the best setting sprays I’ve used since I started branching out. This week’s Links + What I’m Loving is full of so much good stuff that I think you are going to love! I have compiled items from beauty, fashion, accessories, to home goods and must-have items in the summer. I have also shared the books I just downloaded and cannot wait to get to reading in-depth. I sometimes share a recipe, but since we have been “up in the air” here at the Hoyle house, not much cooking has been going on. It’s been salads and sandwiches for most of the month. Barry is starting to complain, so I will have a great recipe next week…hopefully, lol! First up on the list are these cute Espadrille Mules from Target! These come in this pretty neutral, and a tan and olive suede. These are perfect for every day and can easily dress up a pair of jeans styled with a cute top and handbag. These will be a hot seller, so grab your size while you can. I ordered my regular size in these and they fit great. See the espadrille mule here. Another Walmart Find is the Melrose Ave Vegan Leather Strappy Flat Sandal. These remind me of the Scoop sandals that were so popular. These come in 2 more color options and are in my cart right now! I ordered the black in these. See the sandal here. Have you used the OPI Drip Dry drying drops? If you do your own nails or toes, this is a must-have! Apply to nails after applying NAIL POLISH as the final step of your manicure, wait to set 60 seconds. I also use the OPI ProStay Duo Pack, I can paint my nails and the polish won’t chip and it lasts for about 2 weeks. I recently found the Lancome Lash Idôle Lash-Lifting & Volumizing Mascara and it is AMAZING! I don’t wear a lot of mascara around the house, but when I do – this mascara helps give me gorgeous lashes and really makes my eyes pop. See it here. You can also see the Before & After pics, the difference is huge! Many of you have asked about self-tanners and I rarely use them, however, Raegan will use them. So I asked her and a few of my more mature friends which did they like best and by far, everyone liked St. Tropez the best and the second was Bondi Sands Liquid Gold. I know you have to make sure you exfoliate very well before applying a tanner because the tanner will grab to the older skin and darken in spots. I use the MicrodermaMitt (it’s wonderful!) before applying any tanner and I use this tanning mitt. The tanning mitt is one of Amazon’s Best Sellers and Most Loved! If you have dry or flaky skin or just love a great exfoliator, I found this little jar of heaven called Flake Away at Target and we are loving it! This is good for any type of skin and although reviews say people have used it on their face, I have not. I use this pumpkin mask on my face but use the Flake Away on my body. Makes my legs feel so good! See the Flake Away here. If you are like me, you may be sitting on a bleacher at night and on the weekends watching your grandkids play sports. One thing I have learned is to use a cooling towel for walks, working in the yard during the day, and baseball games! These are so handy and they work! The pack of 4 is only $14 and an Amazon Find! See it here. I have a few home decor items in this post since we are renovating. These lavender faux flowers are simply gorgeous and an easy addition to any room to brighten it up. I found these at Target and it comes in the pot for only $20. I am going to add this to my new bathroom. Isn’t it cute? See it here. These faux hydrangeas were an Amazon Find and will be going in the new glam bedroom when the kids move out next week. Yes…I said next week! Cross your fingers nothing happens between now and then, LOL! Back to the flowers…this set of 6 comes in multiple colors and is only $11. See the flowers here. This bracelet combo is another favorite that I have just bought. I love it together and I love the option of stacking it with other bracelets I own. It’s only $26 for the entire set, see it here. This would look gorgeous with a cute white dress this summer or add a pop of color with white shorts and a black top, or even an all denim outfit. I just ordered this blush camera bag crossbody from Amazon, along with the blush and blue guitar straps. This crossbody is one of the Best Sellers from Amazon, comes in multiple color options, and is only $21. See the crossbody here and the straps here. If you love a comfortable dress, this V-Neck Shirt Dress from Target is spot on! I love the red, but I am drawn to the blue color also. This dress fits TTS (true to size) and comes in 5 more color options. Not a bad summer outfit for only $20! See the dress here, I am wearing a medium for reference. My Reading Picks For The Week I have been busy with the house here lately and have not been able to read my books like I normally do. I have just downloaded these to read now and a few more to read in May while we take a few days at the beach. I was looking for a love story but soon found myself leaning towards a true story.
