There are some things that women over 40 should buy for themselves to maintain and restore youthfulness! Now that I’ve celebrated my 40th and 50th birthday (and more…), I’ve compiled a list of a few must-haves of things I believe women maturing in age should treat themselves to just because every now and then we need a little pampering. And if we can roll back the hands of time, then let’s do it! Before I give it a shout out on social media or the blog, I will use a product for a considerable amount of time to make sure it is worthy to share with my followers, if it’s not – then I send it back. With that being said, I am going through menopause and have extremely dry skin and I am constantly trying new products to exfoliate and hydrate my arms and legs. They seem to be the driest part of my body, more than likely from being in the sun for so many years. So I was eager to try this all-natural product that had great reviews. Keeping the kitchen clean is at the top of my must-do list and if the kitchen is messy then I can get stressed very quickly. Over the years I have struggled with maintaining a spotless kitchen, especially when the children were smaller, and I quickly learned to use effective products and to clean as I go. Current PM Skincare Routine (New Products I’m Loving)

When it comes to skincare, I have literally tried so many brands I have a drawer full of products that said they would deliver and never did. My biggest concern is something that helps fight the aging process, the lovely signs of getting older and gravity (what once was up – eventually sags down). Most women that are around 40 and older all say the same things. The issue with me over my grownup life is I was lazy and I mean lazy a lot! Did I wash off my makeup every night? Umm, nope! I was a busy Mom in college and working with two small children. I was either at a church function, a ball game or a recital – or practices for everything in between. I was in my 40’s before I started being consistent in my routines and still had to make myself at times. For all you younger girls, trust me when I say – you need to take care of your skin daily! Start now in your younger years and when you are in your late 40’s, 50’s and beyond you will be much happier with your skin. My Nightly Routine I love Rodan and Fields, but I also love a lot of other products. I have never been product loyal unless it gave me the results that I was loving. If it works, I tend to continue to use the product, although, since I am a skincare junkie now – I still try all kinds of products. I will read reviews and do a lot of research on something, especially if I am going to splurge on a product. Step 1: Wipe That Makeup OFF! The very best makeup wipes I have ever used, from expensive to inexpensive- Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes have always topped the list. I have literally run to Walmart or Target to buy these when I have tried other brands and they failed to do the job. Step 2: Wash Your Face! I have bounced around between a few of these products, but right now I am rotating between the Redefine Daily Cleansing Mask and Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Facial Cleanser. Why do I like these products? I like the Daily Cleansing Mask because it’s a clay mask that pulls the impurities out of your skin. This helps reduce pores and exfoliating your skin and gives you younger-looking and younger-feeling skin. Can you tell this one has been used? It has! I like the Foaming Cleanser because it makes my skin feel super clean and I like using it in the shower when I’m in a hurry at night and in the mornings. It’s a product that I have used for over 20 years and I’m still using it at least a few times during the week. Step 3: Toner (Work it girls) I use a few toners, so before I start talking about the two I use, let me explain why you need to use a toner. Using a toner gets any traces of dirt, oil or makeup that may be left after washing your face. It helps balances the pH of your skin, can help with acne, oily or dry skin. Some can also help minimize pores, loss of firmness and fine lines. Toners I Am Currently Loving! My day to day toner has been the Pore Minimizing Toner, I like this one because I do not need a lot and this one gives a lot of bang for the buck. It helps reduce the look of pores, fine lines and helps with firmness. At 50 years old – this is essential in fighting the gravity issue and fine lines. In the winter months, I can tell that my skin needs hydrating constantly so I have been using Fresh Rose Deep Hydrating Facial Toner. I can tell a big difference in my skin, especially in the cheek area. They seem more hydrated and plump. I will take plump over sagging any day! This one uses rose water, hyaluronic acid, and angelica leaf extract to draw in moisture and keep it in place. This one also has over 120K loves on the review- that should tell you something! Step 4: Moisturize Your Face You can probably tell that I normally use the Redefine Regimen, which I do and I love these products. As an Influencer, I get a box of items every 3 months filled with products that I try out and review – and some of these products have been awesome! Products that I have fallen in love with and I am still using, plus I have been asked recently what my skincare regimen was like. So in the era of transparency – I am sharing it all! Regardless of age, everyone wants their skin to look glowy, radiant, and plump. As your skin begins to produce less oil and there is a breakdown of elastic and collagen fibers, “the skin becomes drier and thinner with more laxity.” Generally, this means a proper skin-care regimen needs to include “products that strengthen and thicken the dermis, provide moisture retention and barrier renewal, yet are not too harsh or abrasive.” My Favorite Moisturizers (Moisturize to Look Younger!) Best Drugstore Moisturizer I Have Used Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer is a great drugstore brand that I have on hand in my bathroom and my travel bag. I liked that it absorbed quickly, didn’t irritate (even with retinol) and had little scent. Tests found that it firmed and moisturized, evened tone and could smooth fine lines over time. My other favorite Drugstore Brand that I am loving is No. 7 Restore & Renew Face & Neck Multi-Action Serum. No. 7 is one of the best selling brands in America, I have tried a few of their products, but this has been my favorite. Clinically Proven Results• Face: 95% had visibly reduced wrinkles• Face: 93% had a noticeable lift• Neck: 85% had visibly reduced crepiness• Neck: 82% had improved firmness Moisturizers Where I Have Splurged As you can tell, I like the serums much better than a typical moisturizer. My daily nightly moisturizer is Overnight Restorative Cream ( this is a splurge unless you get the full regimen). I do not go without this product, but I have reviewed a few “splurges” and absolutely loved these also. In fact, in one of my bathrooms I have my regimen that I use the most, but some nights I like to use serums only and skip a nightly moisturizer. My ultimate splurge product is Metacell Renewal B3 Skinceuticals Serum. These are SUPER hard to get, they stay Out of Stock because the demand is so high. There are few left here if interested. You can get on a waitlist here – trust me…it’s totally worth it! This is designed to target, repair and prevent the visible signs of photo-aging. A 5% concentration of niacinamide diminishes hyperpigmentation while peptides and glycerin firm skin and smooth expression lines and deep wrinkles. Next on my Splurge List is Charlotte Tilbury’s Charlotte’s Magic Cream. These do come from a .5 oz ($29) to a 1.7oz jar (this is what I have ($100). What does this do? It contains Charlotte Tilbury’s secret mix of patented, anti-aging, hydrating and youth-promoting ingredients that lift and transform tired skin in an instant. This moisturizer fights the aging process on all fronts, stimulating collagen production and cell energy while fighting free radicals to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Skin is penetrated with hydration and elasticity is restored, smoothing the surface and promoting healthy cell renewal. It’s ideal for anyone with tired, thirsty or lackluster skin. Step 5: Eye Cream Best Drugstore Eye Cream My favorite is ROC Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Eye Cream. This helps with dark circles under eyes, puffiness of under eyes, smoother appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Restores elasticity and gives your eyes a smoother look. Splurging On My Eye Creams! I use the Multi-function Eye Cream daily, I absolutely love it and freak out when I do not have it in the house. With that being said, I have found myself without any for the last few weeks, so my stand by has been carrying the load of stopping my fine lines and wrinkles. I used this brand for years and somehow over time, I stopped buying it. I’m not sure why, but things like this happen. My Top 3 Products For Puffy Eyes

Happy Monday ladies! Is it me, or did the weekend go by really fast? For those of you that are off for the holiday – enjoy! Today on the blog I thought I would share some things I have been using to help with wrinkles, puffiness and under-eye bags. Those of you that have been following for a while, know that I have horrible allergies and my eyes will swell at the drop of a hat. Partly allergies and partly genes (thanks Dad), I have battled puffiness mainly under my eyes. For those of you that are a bit older, you probably have started seeing the fine lines and wrinkles also. These 3 items have helped me and hopefully, they will help you. 1. Rose Quartz Roller Have you heard about Jade Roller or Rose Quartz Rollers? I talked about all the benefits of a jade roller here, but I am seeing a huge spike in the rose quartz roller. The biggest difference in the rose quartz stone versus the jade stone is the rose quartz will hold it’s cooler temperature longer and is better known for its wrinkle-reducing benefits. Roll this around your chin and neck area to start fighting the sagging skin problems that come with age also! Add a serum and roll away for added benefits! One good thing did come out of our day Monday though, we finally tried the Walmart Grocery Pickup and we LOVED it! I highly recommend trying this out if you are a busy Mom or if you're like me...hate to shop in Walmart!

Retin-A, Vitamin A and What It Can Do For You

Happy Saturday!! I have been doing some research on a few beauty and skincare products and I have to share what I am learning. Make sure you read all the way to the bottom if you have puffiness under your eyes. Whether from allergies, sensitivity, or genetics – I finally found something that works instantly!!!! Y’all know this made me happy! And for the results I am getting, I would pump out the $$$, cause I hate under eye puffiness – just makes me look older or makes me look like I’ve been crying! UGGGG! I’ve certainly heard of retinol and it wasn’t until I sat down with my Esthetician, Melissa when I realized I should consider adding retinol into my skincare routine. So I’ve been doing some research to try to find a good product and was swiftly introduced to the massive amount of information all about retinol/vitamin A on the internet. I’m sorting through a lot of it but I wanted to share my research process in case you too are looking to add a retinol into your skincare routine. What is Retinol? It’s an anti-aging molecule that encourages cell turnover and collagen production, softens fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. It’s a milder derivative of Vitamin A, should not be used in the daytime. Summing up a lot of the articles I’ve read, retinol may be the most effective anti-aging tool available right now. If you are young, you probably don’t need it. But if you are getting near 30, collagen production is going down, or you are starting to see signs of aging, you may want to consider using a product with Retinol to restore some youth to your face! In fact, in one of the videos I watched, Caroline said “retinol is like CPR for your skin. . . it reminds it to keep working!” I’ve following along with Caroline Hirons series of videos all about retinol to learn as much as possible as I explore using these products. She has a wealth of information and exhaustively explores products. I’d recommend watching a few of her videos about this subject to learn more! Start with this one! As far as product availability goes, there are so many options. The percentage of retinol varies in each product too, so it’s very important to do your research before you jump into a high percentage of retinol. Items I found that came with high reviews are these: Ole Henricksen and Biossance are two brands that I’m aware of that use Squalane, which is something our bodies actually produce naturally (just like hyaluronic acid!). The Biossance Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum was also a product that was very HIGH in reviews and suggested from my Esthetician. I’ve started using the Redefine Amp MD System and I have seen some difference in my skin. What is this system? The REDEFINE AMP MD™ Derma-Roller features micro-exfoliating tips that safely and gently maximize the effectiveness of applied products to amp up your results and visibly firm skin. REDEFINE Intensive Renewing Serum empowers skin’s own renewing process for more refined, firmer-looking, smooth skin with less visible lines and wrinkles. I have fine lines, some wrinkles (but not very many – just around my eyes). The main reason I decided to get this system is that I saw results on my friends that used it. Nothing speaks louder than actually seeing someone you know who is having results. My major concerns are the lines at the edges of my mouth that make me look like I am a hand puppet. UGGGG!!! I am also noticing that my skin is not as firm as it was at 40, so now that I am at the edge of 50, I wanted to start working on this issue without Botox! So where am I now? I’m using the AMP MD which has the Intensive Renewing Serum (which has the highest amount of Vitamin A you can get without a prescription). I enjoy using this and really can tell my skin is firmer and looks healthier. It will take a long time of use (all products do) to really see the impact it’ll have on wrinkles that already exist on my face, but for now, I feel good about using something that is gentle and products that I know have the ability to work if I use them on a regular basis. Anything to help combat environmental and aging effects on the skin is a WINNER for me! I still have a lot to learn, and am certainly glad to have the internet and estheticians available to discuss these things! I’m curious, do you use a retinol product religiously? And for how long have you used it? Have you seen a difference? Are you also confused by this whole world of Vitamin A and anti-aging products? Ladies – I need your feedback and honesty! Also, for all you ladies that have puffiness under your eyes… Most of you know I LOVE the Bright Eye Complex. Recently I received Dr. Brandt Needles No More No More Baggage eye de-puffing gel. This stuff WORKS LADIES! I applied this under my eyes and within 5 minutes I could feel my skin tightening, of course, I checked out my eyes in the bathroom mirror. As I looked at my reflection I actually thought…Hot Dog! I have found something that works instantly! It tightens the puffiness under your eye and gave my under eye area a flush, smoothe look. I checked back in 5 hours and my eyes still looked great- no puffiness at all. I could see a small line at the bridge of my nose, but that was it – side note- I did not apply any to that area. I focused on the midsection under my eye all the way to the outer portion of my under eye area. My allergies are horrible and my eyes are very sensitive – plus genetics—I have had issues with puffiness since I was about 30. Between the Bright Eye Complex and No More Baggage, I think I have finally found products that reduce the baggage!! What are your secrets ladies? I am really looking some feedback on your thoughts with Retinol and Vitamin A. Do any of you go to the Dermatologist for prescription strength??
