How I Am Prepping With Walmart+
*Thanks to Walmart for sponsoring this post; as always, all opinions are my own.
Since hurricane Fran made her appearance when I was in my 20s, I have always tried to be prepared for “life”. Before Fran came in, I watched my Mom prepare our home for the storm; and for the most part, she had almost everything we would need. From that time on, I decided that I would try my best to keep all our essentials stocked up. With my Walmart+ membership, I am able to get all my essentials delivered right to my doorstep for free ($35 order min. Restrictions apply.), which is saving me time and money!
I love that I can have big bulky items like water, paper towels, and toilet paper delivered to my doorstep. I don’t know of anyone who likes to lug that heavy stuff in and out of the cars, do you? About once a month I have these items delivered along with a few extra canned veggies, canned fruit, beans, rice, and comfort foods. Since these items stay in my favorites on the Walmart App, I can easily place an order when I want to add them to my pantry for my “extras”.
I would much rather have something that I will never need, rather than be in a position where I need something I don’t have. With that in mind, I had my brother look through my utility room and offer suggestions of things I might need if we had a storm and the power went out or items in general that I may need for everyday living. The first suggestion was any kind of straps or bungee cords…who knew?? Not me! HA! Below are some of the items he suggested for me to add to what I already had.
Items I Like To Keep On Hand; Just In Case
I always have a first-aid kit in my car and at home, and I really like this one for my car because it is smaller and easy to throw in a backpack or my glove compartment in the car. I have always kept a camping stove for emergencies, but my brother advised me to grab this one since mine was “a little too used”. When the kids were smaller, they loved “camping” in the backyard and using the stove for making smores, so mine was a little old. (The kids were never lacking in their imaginations back then, lol)

I read the book “Ready for Anything” by Kathi Lipp. It details how to be ready for a crisis or emergency with a Christian perspective. It was very eye opening! I have done several things she suggests and so have my grown kids. It has very good and practical advice for today’s crazy world and natural disasters!

Love this!! Thank you so much for sharing that!

Missed you!

I missed all of you too. I now know what my mom went through a few years back. I will not act like I’m 20 any more lol

Always a good reminder to “be prepared”. We prep for earthquakes around my neck of the woods! I also keep peanut butter; a transistor radio w/ extra batteries; and pet food (don’t forget about your fur babies!!).

I just told Raegan that we forgot about dog food lol!! Good prep!!🥰

So glad that you are feeling better! I too have been dealing with back problems for 2 weeks now and as you know it is no fun. You may want to add to the list matches/lighter, candles, prescription or over the counter medications that you, family members, or pets may take regularly. Also, fill your car gas tank if you know that a storm is coming in case you need to evacuate. I lived in south Florida for 17 years and we always made sure to have supplies on hand.

Great add ons! And yes, I am so glad I’m getting better. This was my first big back issue, and it was no fun. Chase told me not to try and do everything, but you know how we can be lol

I forgot to mention that it is a good idea to have a hand operated can opener on hand to open the canned foods in case the power goes out.
Beverly
That’s a good idea!! Thanks girl 🙌🏼
