Neutrals With Old Navy

Most of you know that I am a neutral lover! I love my bright and colorful pieces, but there is nothing easier to style than those earth tones. I like to think of a neutral color as something that doesn’t compete with any other color. Meaning it can blend in and pair with almost anything. That’s what makes them such great wardrobe staples because you can mix and match neutral pieces together and not worry about anything clashing. Not to mention a lot of the pieces can be worn layered and styled for multiple seasons.

I was going to share these outfits during the weekend, but Old Navy is having a 25% off SALE, and I want you girls to be able to get your sizes before they sell out. We all know how fast jeans and shorts can get gone. Today, I am taking a few pieces and showing how I would style them in different ways. Let’s talk about this linen-blend tank! I love the twist front on this tank. Isn’t it a cute detail that elevates a regular tank? This fits TTS and comes in two more colors, I am wearing a medium for reference. It’s also on sale for $15, YAY! See the tank here. (This was an impromptu try-on, btw).

These khaki pair of denim shorts definitely passed the “I’m gonna keep these” test, easily! These will get gone quick during the sale, for the style and fit, not to mention they are on sale for only $13! These are mid-rise distressed boyfriend jeans that have stretch in them. I got my regular size 8 and they fit and wear great. I don’t wear shorts outside of the house that are shorter anymore, but a lot of you girls are shorter than me and will appreciate a shorter inseam. So, I decided to try the 3-inch inseam to wear around the house, and I fell in love with the looser fit and the inseam was fine. See the shorts here.

Take your look up a notch with this casual cinched jacket from Talbots that is 50% off right now. Everyone needs a great utility jacket in their wardrobe; it’s a staple piece and a hot trend right now. This also comes in white and fits TTS, I am wearing a large for reference; I normally size up in jackets to accommodate for layering or sweaters. You can also cinch the waist for a tighter look or wear it looser for a more casual look. See the jacket here.

If you love an oversized tee, you’re gonna want to take a closer look at this one! This is a luxe oversized striped tee that can be tied at the waist (which is a big trend right now), or tucked in or left out. It’s a super soft material and can easily be dressed up or down, especially with a fab pair of jeans. This also comes in navy and white stripe, it fits TTS but is oversized and relaxed. I am wearing a medium for reference. It is a Best Seller and is under $25, **the Best Sellers are excluded from the 25% off sale. See the striped tee here.

These gray distressed boyfriend jeans are going to be a hot seller and they will sell out quick! These are lighter gray jeans with a mid-rise inseam, with minimal distressing. These can easily be worn with brighter colors, pale tones, and will be gorgeous with neutrals. I styled it with the striped luxe tee and the awesome YAS sandals from Chinese Laundry. The jeans fit TTS and have a slouchy, lived-in look that is all the rage right now. I love the fit of these jeans, it reminds me of when I was younger and it took me half the school year to get my jeans to fit like these. Who remembers those hard jeans back in the day? It was brutal! LOL!! See the jeans here, I am wearing a size 8 for reference.

Want an edgier look for date night? Style the tee as an off-the-shoulder top, add a fabulous necklace and some great arm candy and I guarantee you will turn the eye of the one sitting beside you. Not bragging, but that’s what happened to me, at least I think the look I got was a compliment from Barry. You never know right now with him getting over the hip replacement, HA!

  • Victoria Malberg

I’m at the beginning of a weight loss journey – and at the -10 lb mark, I’m realizing I’ll be needing new clothes as I progress and eventually get to my -40lb goal. Your blog is perfect for helping me find cute, comfortable, and affordable styles that (hopefully) wont fit for very long! Thanks Beverly!

  • Christine

Love your posts! Glad to hear hubby is making progress- hubbies make the worst patients 😜Already bought the jeans and top and found a slouchy shaker stitch sweater to go with jeans later. Turned 52 last week so I love how you keep us ladies styled but not too young or old looking! Thank you for making getting dressed easier

  • Vickie Jo

I love ON…is it me, or do y’all find the sizing inconsistent with their shorts and jeans? I find that I wear about 3 different sizes there, depending on the cut…LOL

  • Kelly

Hooray for getting yourself back on the priority list. Glad Mom and Barry are improving. Great job nurse Bev.

  • April

I always get giddy when I see your emails pop up. Fist time commenting but not the first time Ive just one clicked almost everything you’ve shown lol Thanks for making getting dressed easier <3

  • Laurie Nichols Orlando

I’m with you on the neutrals and have to force myself to buy colors too! I love the twisted tank and the utility jacket. For “chilly days” in Orlando, that’s about the weight of what I need.:)

  • Kim

Love everything on the post! I have such a hard time with old navy sizing for jeans and shorts but am willing to try for these!

  • Robin

I’m so happy to have found a blog for “older” women who still want to stay current and not spend a fortune! I have to admit I’m jealous that you can show a tiny bit of skin with a shorter shirt! That ship sailed for me after my first child!

  • Kristin Duncan Hornback

So glad to hear your nursing duties are becoming less needed. Love these cute outfits!

  • Nancy

Bev, I too am new to your blog but have enjoyed seeing your outfit inspos on Pinterest for a while. Glad to hear everyone is on the mend. Love the Old Navy looks. Keep them coming. They are one of my favorite places to shop.

  • Angie S

Oh my goodness, I remember those hard jeans! Mine always felt like cardboard and my dad made me purchase them 3 sizes bigger so I could “grow into them!” Then half way through the school year the jeans had to be taken in because they were falling off me! Yikes, what I would do for that high metabolism now. Lol! Thanks for bringing back that sweet memory. I adore your uplifting, honest blog. It’s always the perfect pairing with my coffee!

  • Jessica

Thank you for your inspiration! I’ve been struggling to find a style – yours is the perfect blend of classy, fun and comfortable!

  • Laura

Glad your “patients” are on the mend! Love your blog for all the affordable, yet stylish looks you put together!

  • Joanne

Just love your style! And you share affordable ideas-truly appreciate it! I’m also working hard to loose the nurse title with my husband!

  • Jen D.

Found your blog via Pinterest at just the right. Became a first time Mom at the end of last year at the age of 40 and was getting to the point where I thought I’d have to wear some form of legging and loose casual or semi-formal top for the rest of my life because, ya know, I’m a Mom now. Thank you for showing me that I don’t have to live in legging purgatory just because I’m 41 years young and a Mommy! Keep this fun and fresh looks coming!

  • Kristi Whitaker-Krile

Thanks for always sharing the size you are wearing so helpful. Love and hugs to your mum and Barry. So glad they are on the mend.❤️

  • Vicki Ruh

Glad to hear everyone is doing better! I’m so happy I found your blog. I’ve lost 100lbs and love seeing affordable and stylish clothes that I’m able to wear now!

  • Tracy~

Hi! I’m new to the blog, but I’m loving you’re fashion suggestions! I appreciate that the looks won’t break the bank!😉 Thanks for including the links to purchase the items.

On another note, I’ll keep your family in my prayers. I am a nurse, and I’m often the “family” nurse. I wouldn’t change a thing! I get a blessing from being there for my loved ones. Although, it can be exhausting, it makes my heart smile.🥰

  • Christine Simpson

Brain fog is no joke! Literally walked 10 steps to the pantry and forgot why 😂
Hope Barry is on the mend!!

  • Valerie

So glad your mom and hubby are doing well. It’s hard to take care of 1 loved one and try and work not alone 2. Love that you use stores I have access to like old navy and target. I find it hard to by much online doing to my size. Your post helps me know what to look for.

  • Patricia Vorhies

I just signed onto your blog. Love your outfits. You are my kind of gal……love the bargains and deals. I buy a lot of clothing off Old Navy now that I’m retired. Gone are the days of dresses, pantyhose and heels!

  • tbousmancomcastnet

Love all these! I have most of them in my cart now!
I actually laughed at loud at “the look” comment, you just never know what they are thinking> 🙂

  • Maribeth Conklin

    Hey
Wow look at all the comments. I have missed you. Glad the family is doing better. I go in 2 weeks to see what we are going to do about my hip.
    Maribeth

    • Beverly

Missed you too!! And Barry is doing better and he’s getting around much better. I think I’m his mind, he thought he’d walk out of the hospital and be playing golf in a week. He’s never had a lot of physical pain, so he didn’t have a clue about getting over a surgery. The only surgery he has ever had was getting his tonsils out when he was a kid. He now sees that it takes time. Good luck on your hip and I will be praying for you!❤️❤️❤️

  • Maribeth Conklin

I got a response saying duplicate response detected? What does that mean ? I have not written yet?

  • Vickie Schmidt

So glad to hear that prayers were answered. IT Is hard not to worry about our loved ones. I so love your styles and always look forward to your blogs. Thank you for sharing your finds with us.

  • Vickie
