Styling A Poncho Like A Boss!

Today, I’m coming to you showing a gorgeous poncho sweater from one of my favorite places to shop – Target! I have said it before, I cannot go into a Target and walk out without a cart full. Thankfully, I have been shopping online, so it hasn’t been that bad, ha! Today is all about this poncho sweater, and I decided to show how shoes can make the outfit look different for different occasions. Let me know what you think!

This first outfit is what I wore for a family get-together and I was going for a casual but chic look. I think the cognac boots totally made the outfit; you can see it below with my wide brim fedora. Isn’t it a very chic look? This is an effortless outfit to pull together and look as if you put a ton of time into your outfit. The striped tee is a 3/4 sleeve and is a perfect layering piece for the fall with cardigans and jackets. It fits TTS, I am wearing a medium for reference. Outfit Details: // Sweater // 3/4 Striped Tee // Jeans // Boots (similar) // Bead Necklace // Black Stone // Boho Gray/Silver Bracelet

If you’re not ready for knee-high boots, then I am here to show different looks. I will show how some of the most popular shoes on the blog go with this outfit. The Snake Print Cut-Out Booties is a popular item many of you have purchased; here is another unique way to style them.

The Universal Thread Poncho Sweater is One-Size-Fist-All. It is gathered and sewn down the sides except for the armholes. You will need to wear a tee underneath; if you lift your arms up, you can see inside and your undergarments will be visible. We don’t want that, lol! It’s very slimming and hangs perfectly to give you a slender silhouette. See the poncho sweater here.

I am wearing the poncho is Oatmeal, this comes in gray, clay and olive. I like this poncho so well, I have ordered the gray as well. I think the gray would look gorgeous with the pink/clay striped tee from the Old Navy Haul and a pair of white jeans and neutral boots. This is perfect for a casual outfit to run to the grocery store or a quick lunch during the week. I styled it with the Vince Camuto Mules – if you get the mules sizer up a half size.

The Dolce Vita Booties were extremely popular and look stunning with the oatmeal color. You could easily swap out the tee for a solid color or a fitted turtleneck for a different look. Add a scarf when it gets cooler for a well put together brunch outfit. See the Dolce Vita Booties here, they are getting limited insides.

My necklace is black beads with this stone charm attached. I have had this necklace for a few years and just found it while cleaning and organizing my closet. Apparently, Brooklyn was playing with it and stuck it in a shoe lol! Do you girls remember me telling you how I lost a lot of my jewelry? I’m starting to find pieces here and there. Kids…LOL! The beads are linked in the Shop The Post below.

I decided I wanted an outfit that would work well on chilly nights, so I opted for the Bettina Loafer. This suede is super soft, feels like butter! The sherpa lining is all around your foot except for the heel. They are trendy and inspired by my menswear. These come in a pretty gray, black, and leopard print. They fit TTS, you can see them here.

Which look did you prefer? Do shoes really make a difference with the outfit?

Hi, Beverly. I loved this poncho sweater! In fact, I ordered it already. Such a great look with jeans! I have a pencil skirt I think it will go with, as well. I loved the sweater with the booties! So cute! Thanks for sharing! (Target is my favorite place to shop!😜)

Hi, Beverly! My favorite is the first look with the knee-high boots. I love everything about this look. I love Target too but I wear petite sizes so that limits my choices, which may be a good thing! Ha.

    Good morning,
My favorite look is the first one with boots. Love everything about the outfit! My style. I think it would look super cute with black leggings as well , grey sweater and black boots. I also love the necklace kinda the icing on the cake. I also like the outfit with the lighter color booties. Have a great day!

Knee high boots look adorable with the poncho! Love Target, but have to do most of my shopping there online as the closest one is 3 hours away. 😢

Happy Tuesday! My favorite look for today is the 1st look with the cognac boots. Poncho looks amazing on Beverly! I have a little more around the midsection, so will have to see how it fares on me.

  • Joann Krushensky

My favorite is with the Dolce Vita Booties. Love the sweater but wonder how I would look in it since I’m only 5’1”? Do you think being shorter can still look as slimming on me as the sweater is on you?

    • Beverly

Yes!! Girl!! I have a petite friend and she styled this with booties with a higher heel. It looked great in her. My daughter is only 5’3 and she can rock it too!! ❤️❤️

  • Laurie

Good morning! What a hard decision. Loved them all! But if I have to pick one favorite, I would go with the tall boots. Have a great day!

  • Gwen

All are really cute! But my fav is with the Vince Camuto mules. Looks very “wearable” for this time of year, and like the way that the shoes and necklace coordinate to kinda complete the outfit.

LOVE this sweater – going to Target today! I like how you styled them all, but I think I like the black mules the best. The sweater is so cute with the striped t-shirt and I love how you did the necklace.

Love the look, especially with the hat. Ponchos are a great way to add style to any outfit and sooooo comfy to wear.

Good morning Beverly. My favorite is the knee boots and fedora. It’s so classic! The next favorite
Is the snake booties. Really cute and perfect for fall.

Yes! Affordable!! I’m all about more clothes, not less ha!! That was one reason I started the blog. Everyone was so expensive and us regular working girls and moms just do not dress like that daily. Thank you for this comment!! Made my day❤️

Beverly, I love when you wear the snakeskin boots with different outfits. I like them with the poncho and stripe shirt. You are rockin it.

    • Beverly

Oh la la lol!! Thank you girl!! I like to show you girls different ways to style things you’re getting. We like multi-outfits ( is that a word??) Thank you and have a great day!❤️

  • Leisa Greene

While I love all the outfits, you rock in the snakeskin booties. I love posts like this showing versatility with one item like the poncho. The tall boots and necklace are also striking! I’d love to see how you organize your clothing and jewelry.

    • Beverly

Thank you Lisa!! I’m so glad you girls are telling me this!! I worry if I show too many ways at times. Sadly, my closet is not as organized as I would like lol. Barry and I going to start looking a bigger house in January. We’ve been going bs k snd firth for years and I think he’s finally ready. He’s as slow as a sloth in Nutella! Lol!! Thank you for the comment ❤️❤️

  • Lisa

Each outfit is really pretty but the snakeskin booties really rock the outfit. I never thought they could be so versatile until you styled them. Love it when you do this with one item like the poncho.

  • Mary

Hi Beverly! Thanks for the inspirations, lately haven’t felt like dressing up but looking at all your suggestions have motivated me.😊

  • Julie

Love the poncho with either of the booties and the knee high boots. I do think the shoes you wear makes a difference in the outfit your wearing. I always think about what outfit I’m going to wear if I have to take my shoes off at someone’s house. The shoes complete the outfit.
