Beauty & Hair Hacks Every Girl Should Know
Good morning! We are in full weekend mode – finally! We still have sick individuals here, but they seem to be on the mend, thank the LORD! Barry and I got to take a little time away last night with Brooklyn. We took her to Ruby Tuesday to eat and then hit Baskin Robins for ice cream. Needless to say, we blew our diet last night and boy was it good!! LOL!! I am always amazed at the joy Brooklyn brings us.
When we got to her daycare, she was looking out the window (I think her teacher told her we were there) and you could see her little head popping up over the edge. When she got a really good look at us her little head started popping up and down!! LOL!! She was jumping up and down and happy to see us – heart just melted again!! It’s the little things that make me happy now…sighhhhhhh LOL!
Beauty and Hair Hacks…
I get asked a lot about some of the updos I wear, like messy buns or how I curl my hair, so I thought I would share an older post that has some great Hair and Beauty Hacks! If you have never gone through Cosmetology school, learning the tricks of hair styling or makeup application can be a challenge. Here are a few that have made my life so much better!
Create chic, beachy bends by holding your curling wand horizontally instead of vertically.
First, grab a small 1-inch section of hair. Then, starting at the mid-shaft of your hair, twist and wrap it over the barrel while holding the iron horizontally. Hold the hair in place for a few seconds, and then release for a loose wave. If you want tighter, more spirally curls, hold the wand vertically while you wrap the hair around it.
Fill an empty spray bottle with your favorite foaming mousse to de-aerate it, creating a product that’s much easier to use.
Taking the air out of the mousse with a spray bottle makes the product into more of a liquid than a foam while retaining the same volume-boosting properties. You can spray it on and work it through your hair much easier.
Prevent your low bun from loosening by tying your hair in two separate ponytails first.
Tie the pigtails as close together as possible in the middle of the back of your head, and then wrap the ends around each other, creating the bun. Secure with bobby pins.
Test how your makeup will look in different lighting by using the flashlight on your phone while looking in the mirror.
If you apply your makeup in a room with overhead lighting (which can cast shadows on your makeup job), it can look completely different under different lighting, so try this. (Those bathroom mirrors and lighting can be tricky!!)
For the perfect foundation application, start at the center of your face and spread the product outward to blend.
If you apply a lot of foundation around your jawline or hairline, you’ll look like you’re wearing a mask. If you start at the center, the product will fade out around the edges for a more natural look.
Hand Lotion Anti-Frizz
TreatmentFrizz is not your friend, nor is it mine! If you find your frizz situation getting out of control while on-the-go and you’ve forgotten to pack any anti-frizz product, rub a coin-sized amount of hand lotion into your palms and use it to smooth out and tame frizzy bits and ends in your hair. Use this solution with care and in emergencies, as some of the ingredients in hand lotion might not be suitable for hair on a regular basis. FYI: The lotion takes care of static cling too!
Best Time to Apply Dry Shampoo is At NIGHT
If you apply the dry shampoo at night it soaks up the excess oil and you won’t have a film or residue in your hair. I always blow my hair out with the hairdryer too, it gives it more volume. Make sure you apply at your roots and focus around the crown area of your head.
Try these out and let me know how they did for you!! Stay safe and I will talk to you soon! Have a great weekend ladies!!!!! New Spring Styles are coming next week!!

Wonderful tips…I like the one for putting the mousse in the spray bottle and would never have thought to use hand lotion for anit-frizz. And I so agree that it’s the little things with our grandchildren that make us happy. I love getting to go along to help pick our two up from daycare as they are over two hours away so I don’t get to do it very often and it melts my heart when they see me and come running to my arms saying “grandddddddmaaaaaa” and jump into my arms to hug me. I know exactly what you are talking about.

When I read your comment about your grandkids I immediately started smiling. Aren’t they a blessing!! I was taught by an older lady when I was in my teens about using the lotion for frizzy hair lol. And boy have I used that lol!! Happy weekend!!
