In reply to Rachel. Well, we had a big rainstorm just a few days after it was finished, but the shades were not up yet. So we pulled everything about a foot away from the edges and it was fine. But now that we have the shades up, it should block a lot of the rain. It was windy this week and I left them down and used big magnets to keep the shades secure to the posts. It worked great, I hope it works well with the rain too. fingers crossed
