Walking On The Sea In Spite of The Storm

It seems we are all affected some way by this dreaded Covid-19 and we are all fighting the same fight. I have scrolled through social media and read posts and I can feel the fear a lot of people are feeling at this time. Fear affects people in different ways, some will be consumed by it, others seem to have a controlled outlook and others just push through. While many just don’t care and continue to live their lives as if nothing is going on.

I was getting cabin fever yesterday and decided to take a walk at the park on the walking trail near my home. As I was walking, pondering and reflecting on all this chaos I came to the conclusion that fear is the weapon of choice for the devil. Fear of the unknown, fear of dying, fear of financial devastation, – all these things and more can cripple a person, a state, and a nation.

As I was walking and thinking, I immediately thought of Peter walking on the water to Jesus. People say God gave us common sense – and indeed he did. While Peter and the other disciples were in the boat and the sea raging, they all had common sense – knowing there was a storm and they were in a boat – on the water – and it was bad!

Only one person pushed common sense to the side and walked by faith. Literally stepping out of the boat and walking on water. He only started sinking when he took his eyes off Jesus to look at the raging sea around him. Fear took over. He started sinking.

Jesus took his hand and pulled him back up. So let’s remember something. No matter what is going on around us- do not take your eyes of Jesus. In this day and time, we need to lean on him and trust him more than ever. Do not look at what is going on all around you. Do not gaze into the chaos. Keep your eyes on the one who can grab your hand and carry you through.

  • Look for Jesus and keep looking to Jesus.
  • Faith unleashes the supernatural.
  • Fear will sink you
  • Jesus saves you from many things.
  • A little faith is better than no faith.
  • You can choose to worry or worship

Thank you Lisa!! I had to share because I had not even thought about this till I started having a little “time” with the Lord. It was an eye opener, so I knew I needed to share. It’s very easy to get caught up in fear, but I know who is in control and I know I’m his!! God bless and enjoy your Sunday❤️❤️❤️

Wonderful message Beverly, I was feeling very down about not being able to go to Palm Sunday mass. But then I watched it on tv and felt so much better. It’s still not the same but it helped a bit. After mass I read your uplifting message and now between the two I feel more hopeful. Be safe🥰

Thank you for your inspiring words. I was reminded of the song by Zach Williams ‘Fear is a liar.’

Thanks for sharing this! I am still having trouble with my breathing which I am sure the constant stress and pollen are not helping. One silver lining in this whole thing is that I am praying more and growing closer to God. Even with my health challenges I am still so extremely blessed! I am praying for you and your family to stay safe and well my friend! 🙂
