Buffalo Check + Faux Leather Leggings

Two huge trends that are popping up everywhere right now are Buffalo Check and Faux Leather Leggings. I shied away from the faux leather legging trend for a while, but after trying them out for a while, I can say that I have been warming up to it recently. The problem with me was learning or figuring out how I was going to style this trend. Today I am mixing both the buffalo check and the faux leather leggings and a few other options on how to style the leather leggings.

My first outfit is an outfit that I wore this weekend, it was casual, and I did not feel like I was showing too much at my age. Many younger ladies won’t mind showing the fit of the leggings, but some of us older gals tend to want a few things covered up. I wanted to feel comfortable in my outfit choice, so I styled the leggings with the long mock-neck tunic from Target (it falls halfway down my thigh for coverage) with a neutral longer scarf and black boots. I did find the trick to getting a good fit with the leggings was to size up! Outfit Details: // Tunic Sweater // Leggings // Boots // Scarf (similar)

Whether you are running errands, getting groceries, or taking a trip to the mountains, this outfit is super cute, warm, and trendy. If you are older and don’t think you can pull off the faux leather legging look, try pairing them with a long tunic or a cute sweater poncho and knee-high black boots. I brought back the pink puffer jacket from Old Navy. You girls know I loved this jacket and it is adorable with chambray! All items fit TTS, I sized up on leggings. Outfit Details: // Jacket // Chambray Shirt // Leather Leggings // Sneakers

Buffalo Check has become a huge trend during winter and the holidays as home decor and fashion. I love the print and have many things that I wear during the winter months, and this vest has been a staple winter piece for me. I decided to show the Buffalo Check prints early since these sell out super fast. I ordered my regular size (medium) in this vest, it Fits TTS, and it comes in black and white check also. See the vest here.

I wanted a simple and trendy look for my jewelry and went with the Initial Chain from Anthropologie. If you like a thicker linked necklace that can be dressed up or down, the Chezney has both gold and silver tones with a gorgeous drop, see the Chezney here.

We are a pajama loving family in the winter and this year, Barry and I set off to grab our matching pj’s before they all got gone. Hopefully, I can get him to take a quick pic with me so you can see him rocking the buffalo check, ha! He’s so shy!

These pj’s are super comfortable girls! I absolutely fell in love with these and were surprised they were this nice. These are flannel pj’s from Old Navy and they fit TTS. These come in a huge amount of color and pattern options to choose from and mostly holiday-inspired. See the pajamas here. My slippers were a huge hit and have nearly sold out at QVC. You may get lucky with your size, you can see them here. Another style of slippers from Earth Origins that look very similar can be found here.

Hi Beverly! I love, love todays outfits so much. Love the black plaid!! Your picks are very reasonable and affordable and I appreciate that you are more down to earth than some bloggers. Who has over $100 dollars for a sweater?? LOL. I do not and thats ok. Thanks Beverly, Donna from PA

Beautiful Beverly…..Buffalo is a must for me. I have several pieces in that print. I found the most adorable hat Saturday in the mountains at a cute little boutique in West Jefferson. It is a poor boy style…maybe called something else. Anyway it is buffalo check trimmed in black with a small black bow. I got it for $14.99….great price. I was doing some Christmas shopping and of course bought myself something. BTW….I put my Christmas tree up in the living room yesterday. With me working so much I had to put it up when I could. I put another one up in our den downstairs and one in our bedroom. Those are the easy ones and will do another time. I love Christmas. I do not exclude Thanksgiving as it is really special to me….so special I started a Gratitude journal five years ago. Have a great Monday.

Good morning, love your blog. I am soon to be 59 years old but still think I’m in my 30s, in my head. My body though some days feels like I’m 80. Lol Reading your blog and seeing the outs fits you put together has helped me get back out there and buy new clothes. I had been in a funk for a long time and I’m not very good at knowing what to pair together. I have to say when I go shopping in the stores I don’t like a lot of the styles out there. I look forward to reading your blog every morning. Thank you for all you do. Have a great day! Susan from Indiana

Good Morning Beverly. I wanted to share with you that I went to Walmart & purchased that super soft sweater along with 2 pairs of loafers leopard & snake skin print. I’m super excited because this is a new look for me and I’m absolutely loving it for my age @ 41. I’m loving the check style because I’m not a huge fan of plaid lol. Thank you for the info on sizing up in the faux leather leggings. I tried some on through Amazon prime wardrobe and yeah I was like ummm no way too long and snug. Will look into that brand your styling. Thank you for sharing so many outfit ideas. Loving all of them. Melanie from Baytown Tx

  • Joy Rhodes

Good Morning , Beverly! Thanks so much for sharing these cozy pajamas and the slippers. I am on the hunt for some slippers that don’t look so old fashioned. I so enjoy your blog and look forward to every post. I particularly like your style of clothing. Have a great day and enjoy the cooler weather we are having here in North Carolina.

    Joy

I Don’t Have any inclination to go the leather route. I like leather jackets on others, not crazy about leather pants on anyone but it could be my age. I do love buffalo plaid with chambray. That’s a great look and I love the necklace. Thanks for putting on things with realistic prices for most of us. I just wish the economy brands would use the beautiful colors the elite brands do.

  • Pam Teague

Love those pajamas! I’m from Edmond, Oklahoma which is right outside of Oklahoma City. We are busy cleaning up from an ice storm! So many trees lost that it is heartbreaking!

  • Mary Leaton

I started following you a couple of months ago and I absolutely love your style and the blog!! My wallet has suffered greatly however ~ LOL I have probably purchased more than I should have but, all of the outfits are so cute ~ it’s impossible to resist. I live in Scottsdale, Arizona so, some things have to be modified for the warm weather here but I am inspired by your recommendations and have been pleased by the price point and quality of the (many) items that I have purchased. I also love that you style one item in a variety of ways ~ options are always great!! We can tell that you love your job!! I always look forward to opening your emails to see the new outfits you’ve come up with ~
Thank you and have a wonderful day Beverly!!

I live in a border city in Ontario, Canada, and I’m wishing I could be cross border shopping right now, especially to check out your great US Walmart finds. But probably just as well for my wallet! I’m doing enough damage at Old Navy, lol.

I haven’t gotten up the nerve to wear faux leather — I’m just starting to wear plain leggings more regularly! I am NOT an early adopter 🙂 I’m from Evansville, IN.

Love your blog and Christian scripture references! I’m from Alberta, Canada. Sure wish we could do some cross border shopping. Target left Canada a few years ago and we don’t have the same brands at our Walmart (no Scoop, no Time & Tru). Love your reasonable shopping options.
