Our Help Comes From The North

When I was a child my mom would read Bible stories to me, talk to me about the Bible, and she was always asking me questions to see what I had learned. She was a Sunday School teacher and taught the children on Wednesday nights, so I thought this was just another way for mom to teach me things. Little did I know that 20 years later I would be asking the same questions to my own children and grandchild.

One question my mom asked me was, “Where does God and Jesus live?”. I remember it vividly, we were in the car riding to a nearby town on a Wednesday morning to get groceries at the local Winn-Dixie. We went every Wednesday, but this day was different. As she asked me that question and I looked out the window thinking, I remember looking at her and pointing up to the sky. She acknowledges that I was right and we continue riding on to our destination.

I say all that to remind everyone that our help comes from the North. He actually does hold the world in the palms of his hands and he’s a BIG God. Which means he has you and yours in his sights constantly. In a world where things are changing daily it’s a good reminder that no matter what is going on in this world, we need to keep our eye on Him. He is our protector and He is faithful and will always be these things to us.

Psalm 121:1

I lift up my eyes to the hills— where does my help come fromMy help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

As I sit here and watch the news, I see all kinds of different twists and opinions on how things are going, either in our country or across the world. Each person that has ever held a position in power (from the start of time to now) was and is a player to allow Biblical prophecy to take place. Keep that in mind – it is like a domino effect that has been going on since the start of time.

I am very intrigued by prophecy and watching how things are slowly unfolding each day, is simply mesmerizing to me. It seems there are plot twists constantly and I’ve been paying attention to this since I was 26, so it’s been a while!

Be watchful ladies, I am constantly talking to my children telling them Jesus is about to come back. I probably freak them out a little, but if I don’t talk to them about the situations in the world they will be uninformed. They need to be watching and vigilant and know what to look for. We are on the brink of something huge, something that will forever change the world we now know. Which has nothing to do with anything other than Jesus!

I care about each and every one of you and I care about not only your future but your eternity. Watch what’s going on in the Middle East, everything that happens daily is a step towards what God wants to happen. I am the type of person that wants to educate myself on something from every aspect, I want to see it all, I want to weigh it all and then I watch – I watch to see if what I have learned is actually backed up by the Bible and so far it has been.

So when you watch how the world has changed, and ladies it has changed drastically since we were small children. Some say this is normal, well it is normal because with every generation things take a deeper step away from certain morals, values, and beliefs. While it may be a small percentage, this percentage will use fear to keep people at bay. Fear can be a debilitating stronghold.

Fear is a tactic that can be used to silence people in many different ways. We are fearful to speak up about our faith, fearful to speak against “the crowd”. Have you ever been with a group of people and heard them talking about things you did not go along with, but stayed quiet not to “make ripples in the water”?

So remember, whether it’s the conflict in the world, conflict in our country, conflict in your home, at your job, in your relationships – fear NOT! Your help comes from the North and He sits on a Throne and sees everything, knows your every thought, knows every hair on your head and sees you cry out for help. Your help is not far away and he may not come when you want him, but He will show up right on time.

Have a great Sunday! Love and blessings to you all!

I love your Sunday morning post as an additional devotional for me. Conflict seems to be so prevalent in every day that if we didn’t have the Lord to turn to in prayer, I think it would be so difficult to get through even if we do have to wait for HIS time to show up “right on time”. And gosh it is so true about mother’s thinking about their children day and night and I don’t think you understand that until you are a mom yourself. In fact, I made a comment to my DIL this weekend about me worrying about a situation with our son and she made the comment that now that she’s a mom, she understands why I worry yet about my kids even though they are grown. Beverly do you plan your meals out for a month that you knew what to buy for groceries for a month? I like how at checkout they usually ask if I found what I needed and my reply is yes…..and then some! Hope you took a rain check on a date night 🙂

You are so right Sandy!! We mom’s certainly love our babies and worry about them whether they are 1or 51!! Thank you for those sweet words! No, I don’t plan my meals out -that’s horrible huh? I will go buy our meats from a store near my house and normally I have everything. I will run out of essentials like seasonings and stuff like that and pick those up. This has never worked for us and I’m sure it’s not going to work this time either 😂 I may can guesstimate groceries for 2 weeks but that’s about as good as it gets. We always buy too much like around $800 a month in groceries. It’s crazy!! I’d like to see us bring that down to about $300. We need to cut out this mess 😂😂😂 Have a great day!! 😘

If it makes you feel any better, I don’t plan our meals out either. I’m just not good at that as seems like our day can change so quickly and then the meal may have to change with it. I really NEED to work on making food/meals with what we have in freezer and cupboards and get things cleaned out and I’m not good at that either.

Amen! We live in an ever changing world with more tragedy and conflict everyday. We all need Jesus to be our constant source of peace in these troubled times. He is our way maker, promise keeper, miracle worker and light in the darkness! I am so thankful for Him! Thank you for sharing!❤️

Beverly, thank you for this. You are so right and I am intrigued by bible prophecy! When I start to worry about the condition of the world, it is a good reminder that God is in control and He is not surprised by anything that is going on! My husband has an apologetics ministry…his blog is Dawg Vet Apologetics so check that out if you are interested in defending the Christian faith. Have a great week!

    Hi Beverly,
I found your blog several months ago and look forward to it each day. We have lots in common…southern girl, love shopping at Belk, and love Jesus! Today’s post intrigued me because I, too, find Biblical prophecy fascinating. A dear pastor friend holds monthly Bible studies in my area of SC specifically about end times prophecy. Check out “Focus on the End Times” website (fotet.org). I think you’ll find it interesting. Keep the fun fashion ideas coming…loving them!

Thanks Lori!! I’m so glad you like the blog and boy, we do have a lot in common. Thanks for that website- I will definitely check it out. I love this stuff and to see it playing out in real time—WOW!!! Have a great night!! XOXO

I had to head to work shortly after we got home from church yesterday so I am just now reading this. Thank you for your Sunday posts! I love them and love to hear what you and others have to say. The times that we are living in now are very scary but it makes a huge difference to us as Christians to feel secure in knowing that God has it all under His control and that good will win in the end. I have a hard time grasping how people that don’t have their faith to fall back on can get through these times without fear overwhelming their lives.

I think the same thing at times, how do they do it?! I’m very appreciative of my upbringing and I’m so thankful for the Lord!! Hope all is well with you and Troy is feeling better❤️❤️
