Even In The Rough Times – He Is At The Helm

Good Sunday morning everyone! For a few weeks I have been watching the news and all the chaos going on inside our country. I for one have never seen anything like it, it amaze me how people can see thing so different. This is not a political post by no means, but more of an observation of certain things from my perspective.

People have always seen things from different points of view and come to their own conclusions about how they feel on certain topics. That is nothing new, but not everyone is using the Bible as their guide. When each child is born into the world, we have NEVER had to teach them what NOT to do. They instinctively know how to lie or know bad behavior, because they are born into the world with a sin nature. We have to teach our children how to be good. For example, a toddler has to be taught to share, among other things.

I can remember when my son was a toddler and he had asked if he could have a cookie and I told him no. He went behind my back and asked his grandmother for the cookie and she gave it to him. When I saw him eating the cookie, he hid it behind his back. I asked him (with crumbs on his face) if he had a cookie and he looked me straight in the eyes and nodded no! I asked him to show me his hands and when he did there was a cookie. He instinctively knew to hide his deception. He knew he was wrong because he knew what I had said earlier…but he still threw caution to the wind and went for the cookie.

My daughter was not like Chase, she was humble, meek, very quiet and did as she was told. Very rarely would she buck up against the rules. She was an easy child to teach. Chase was a handful and oddly enough he grew up to be a stickler for following rules. He is a black and white kind of guy – there is no gray area, a right or wrong type. Raegan, on the other hand, is a YOLO girl. She was well into middle school before I had to crack the whip so to speak.

The point is, they both had to be taught things, but I have never had to teach them bad behavior. What I see on TV is how easy it is for the truth to be twisted, I see people throwing things at people in authority, I see people acting out daily. I see name-calling, bullying, human life minimized to nothing, and so much more. This is not how we should act and I see this from every walk of life, no matter which side of the aisle you stand on. We should always be kind and loving to our fellow man. A heart filled with hate will be blinded to the truth and follow a course of destruction.

The Bible tells us that in the last days these things will happen and they are happening! Prophecy is happening in front of our eyes daily. Some people say the Bible is a fairy tale others believe what is written. I believe in the Bible and I know, that I know, that I know there is a God that sits on a Throne in Heaven. I believe he sent his son to pay the price for our sins and I believe he died on a cross and rose in 3 days. I will stand by this and die by this – no problem at all. I use the Bible as a tool on how to live my life and as long as I am living my life and it’s pleasing to the Lord, then come what may in this world. For I have my eyes set on the end prize and that is going to heaven, seeing Jesus and living for eternity in a paradise.

Isaiah 5:20 (KJV) Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

The Bible says in the last days good will be called evil and evil will be called good. We have become a tolerant people and the devil has used fear to keep us at bay. We are fearful to stand with certain sides in fear of being labeled. Fearful to speak up in fear of being called out or embarrassed. Fearful of not going along with the crowd. But the Bible says Fear not, for I am with you. And honestly, if the Lord is with me then I have no worries. No matter how bad things get, whether it is in this world or in my daily life…I will trust in the Lord with all my heart and know that He has me in the palm of his hands. And he has you too!

Don’t focus on what is going on in this world, for all these things have to happen. Remember that Jesus is your salvation and he will carry you through the rough times and be by your side in the good times. He is your comfort, he is a hedge of protection for you – so no matter what happens in the world or in our lives – he is at the helm! And if he is steering your ship, then you will be just fine.

What a great post! Just the other day at work a woman came in. I greeted her as she walked in then went about my work. After she shopped for a little while she came over and said, “You are a Christian aren’t you”. I said yes I am. She said something to the effect that as she has gotten closer to the Lord He has given her the ability to discern Christians from those that aren’t believers. She also said that typically she has to look a person in the face and then she sees like a kind of glow come from their face. She said, “you must have a very strong faith because I got this knowing that you are a Christian just by getting a side ward glimpse of you and usually I have to look at someone directly face to face”. This is probably one of the nicest compliments that I have ever received! It is nice to be complimented on one’s look, how we dress, our manners ect but to me the highest compliment is that someone can see my Lord and Savior in me! I am far from perfect and my prayer each day is to be a better person than I was the day before. We have always had the need for the Lord in our lives but in this day and time it is imperative to closely follow Him and bring up our children and grand children to do the same. It is a scary time for sure but thank God that we know how the story ends!!

Wow!! What a nice compliment!! You do have a glow about you Kelly!! But for her to go out of her way was really awesome! I was telling Barry this past week, the only person I want to please is the Lord! As I have gotten older I realize the importance of staying close to him and trying to be an example to my children and grandchild. Thanks for this comment!! I loved it!!! It is a scary time and I’m not letting anything keep me from keeping my eye on the prize!! PTL🙌🏼🙌🏼❤️❤️😘😘

Late getting here and so glad I took time before heading to bed to read todays post. Thank you Beverly for your Sunday devotions as I can always put myself in situations that you refer to and love how you compare them to the Lord being there for us through thick and thin. I loved being reminded of Isaiah 49:15-16.
