Shampoos That Repair Damaged Hair

Happy Wednesday ladies! How is your week going? I got to share something that happened to me here recently with my hair. You girls know I am very OCD about the products I use on my hair. At least once a month I like to write a post about hair care or current hairstyles. I love to review products and believe me…I’m going to shoot straight from the hip.

I recently used a sample of shampoo that was sent from Influenster and it was horrible! This shampoo dried my hair out within 3 uses. I could feel my hair feeling “wirey” each time I used it. Since I wash my hair about 3 times a week, when the week was up, I literally wanted to cry. After the 3rd shampoo is when I really noticed it and knew I had to repair my hair ASAP! The name of the shampoo is MINU. It states on the bottle: Illuminating protective shampoo for colored hair. This is a total FRAUD! That’s me keeping it real LOL!

This left my hair dry, tangling easy and my hair totally felt like “last year’s bird’s nest”. That’s dry ladies! I used Redken Diamond Oil to help bring life back into my hair, but I also used Redken Extreme AntiSnap to help repair my hair. Here are some Shampoos I have used since Cosmetlogy School that I have strong comfidenece in!

Top Repairing Products

If your hair is deeply damaged, this is one of the best-repairing shampoos around. It is designed to restore damaged hair to better health. It achieves that by restructuring your hair from within. It makes it possible for your hair to regain strength, shine and become revitalized. The most unique thing about this range from L’Oreal is that it contains Neofibrine, a unique combination of a shine-perfecting agent. It also comes with a UV filter so your hair is protected from further damage. I also recommend the Série Expert Absolut Repair Lipidium Mask in this line also. It worked wonders on Raegan’s hair from over processing.

Bumble and Bumble have been a favorite of mine for years. It’s an ultra-mild, moisture-rich cleanser for those who regularly color, straighten, or perm their hair. This super-charged formula gently cleanses and repairs damage without stripping color, wilting perms, or reverting chemically straightened hair. For most intense care, pair with Mending Conditioner, Complex, and Masque. This product is compatible with color-treated hair. Bumble and bumble is a cruelty-free brand, meaning they don’t test on animals. BB products are free from parabens, phthalates, mineral oils, and formaldehyde so that’s a huge plus in my book too! Now, if you are looking and thinking about the Bumble and Bumble products, then I would also suggest Bumble and Bumble While You Sleep Damage repair Masque. If have been following me, then you know I have been working on my hair for over a year and this is a product that has helped, although Raegan (my teenage daughter) steals my products constantly..ha!! So I’m letting ya know that this helped her along with a couple more on this list with her over-processed hair.

You girls already know that I’m in love with the Redken Extreme AntiSnap products to help with my ends splitting and now I[‘m going to tell you about this shampoo.  Quench your distressed hair’s thirst with Redken Extreme Shampoo. the lush formula is emollient rich and works by restoring and cleansing to leave your hair visibly healthier and easier to manage. It is formulated as a fortifying shampoo for damaged hair or distressed hair, especially for those with weakened strands and wants to strengthen hair. The entire line is actually awesome!

Sebastian Professional Penetraitt Shampoo is essential care for your damaged hair. Helps strengthen any look, while removing and guarding it against stress caused by past chemical treatments and heat damage. Sebastian comes to your hair’s rescue with this colour safe and deep conditioning, fortifying and strengthening shampoo. I’ve used Sebastian products on and off since I was in Cosmetology school and it is a good line, one that I definitely recommend. If you do decide to pick one of these shampoos then I highly recommend getting the entire system, it works together and will strengthen your hair over time.

Give your hair strength with this Pureology Strength Cure Shampoo that reduces breakage and brings softness to every hair on your head. With its 100% vegan ingredients, it will strengthen the fiber in your hair and remove dull residue. These are some of the reasons why it is considered as one of the best shampoos in the market, in addition to being one of the top 5 repairing shampoos. Pureology is a great professional line and they also have a hair masque called Pureology Strength Cure Superfood Treatment Mask….it’s one of the top hair masks in my opinion.

Which of these top 5 repairing shampoos have you tried? Do have any other shampoo designed for damage repair that you highly recommend? I love getting your feedback on my blogs, please drop a comment below! Thanks for stopping by the blog today!!

The shampoo isle at the stores is definitely overwhelming so getting suggestions from someone who knows hair and has used the products is very helpful. I am currently using doTerra Essential oil shampoo and I feel it has helped with the shine in my hair and…that my color treated hair has lasted longer between coloring’s. I am still in search of a new hairstyle but this search has been going on for years…LOL Seems like even if I get it cut slightly different, I still blow dry and style it the same way I had been. Busy day cleaning the house and putting everything back in it’s place since the grand babies are back home with their parents.

It’s so funny you say even though you get it cut different you still style it the same way-a lot of women do that! You’re right, there are so many products on the market you never know what’s good and what’s bad. Have a great day Sandy!!!!

Thanks Beverly for this great info. I never really know what products to use and my hair is always a mess. LOL – can you do a blog on wrinkle creams/skin care? I’m 47 and seeing my age slowly creeping in… not sure what products to use. I have a few wrinkles.. creepy skin and starting to see my neck changing… ugh.. I want to age gracefully ( not fight it) but it is hard to see this happening. Hope you are warm & safe!
    Cheers- Missy

Hey Missy!! Absolutely!! I started seeing the wrinkles creep in at 47 also. I will share what I’m using in a post soon. I have actually been trying out a few products over the past year to see which was better. I think I found a winner !! Hope your day is a good one!!

awesome! I look forward to your post. You are beautiful and aging is on your side… so I’ll be excited to hear all about what works for you. What is the best way to age gracefully? haha…. everyone uses botox these days and I am just not a fan.. but I do want to do what I can to look my age and still feel pretty. A few wrinkles, some sagging.. are all expected… but I want to do my part and do what I can to defy my age at the same time.. haha… it’s a hard balance. 😀 I also never want to act my age… no need for that! I love your blog and I love the graceful lady you that you are. Very inspiring! Have a great day!
