Coffee & Girl Talk

Happy Sunday morning ladies! Has your week gone by as fast as mine? And more importantly, has your weekend flown by like mine has? It was like blinking an eye and BOOM, Valentine’s Day was here and now we are making our way to March! Time slow down!! Before you know it we will all be talking about our Summer Vacations!

As you girls know, the flu bug hit our home this past week and we are all doing much better. Raegan is pulling up the rear, but hopefully, she will be feeling herself soon.

We had Brooklyn this weekend, although we have her nearly every weekend! I bet you guys have been thinking we certainly get her a lot, well we do – and we LOVE it! Her parents work on the weekends, so we chip in and keep her as much as possible. What grandparent doesn’t want their grandbabies? She makes life fun, exciting, and keeps us on our toes. I feel so much younger when she is around…do you girls feel like that about your grandkids?

We took her shopping Saturday to “find a toy” and oh my, she was certainly putting some thought into what she wanted. She searched high and low and it didn’t matter if it took 5 hours looking…she was on a mission. She wasn’t giving up until she found her perfect toy.

I looked at her with love, but anxiously awaiting her to pick one. Oh my gah…who knew she had gotten so picky?! Even though I was tired and ready to go, I still looked on patiently awaiting her pick. And when she finally made her decision, I was elated – for more than one reason LOL!

We put glitter on this picture because she said too…LOL!

It made me think about how our Lord sits and watches us, especially if we aren’t where we should be with Him. Watching over us every day, loving us unconditionally, waiting on us to finally choose Him. I know He knows all things, knows what paths we will take and where we will end up.

Genesis 28:15 – “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

I thought about how I would point out a toy to Brooklyn to nudge her along and I wonder how many times he nudges us to get back on the right road? How many times he steps in and moves mountains for us. How he turns bad things that happen into good things. How he allows us to “mess up” so we can learn and grow as a Christian. We do the same with our children, allowing them to make mistakes and learn from them. It’s a hard thing to sit back and watch your child make the wrong choice, but we have to rely on what we have taught them in childhood. And let them stand on their own two feet and learn.

Psalm 32:8 – I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

I have grown as an adult to appreciate just how great God is. How much love he has for each one of us. How he allows trials and tribulations to come into our lives to mold us into stronger servants. I count it all a joy, every ounce of hurt, turmoil, and trials I have had to go through in life. For he let these things happen to get me where I am today. He molded me like a Potter would clay, and for that, I will always serve Him. I can say that now, and I said that through the latter part of my life when troubles would come. I did not say these things when I was a young Christian – my mindset then was more like …WHY???? Dear Lord, can’t one thing go well for me?

It was in my darkest hours I learned to lean on the Lord. It was in my darkest hours I learned to praise him through the pain. It was in those times that I learned how much he truly loved me and that’s when I started loving myself. No matter the mistakes I had made, I started loving who I was. I do not nor will not let “people” of this world dictate who I am, what kind of a person I am. Do not let what others might say about you – to you or behind your back bother you. For this world is not our home and we are only here for a little while. As long as I am here, I will sing his praises. Just like Paul and Silas – just like Job – just like Moses, David, Joseph, and many more…

Isaiah 41:13 – For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not Fear; I will help you.

There is HOPE in the Lord! He is a friend when needed and he will always be by your side. I pray for you all daily and I hope you have a wonderful Sunday! Thanks for stopping by my blog and taking time out of your day. I do not know what I am going to write on Sundays until I sit down and start typing. I hope that I am used by God in some small way to help at least one of you today! See you back on the blog tomorrow girls!! XO!

Good Morning! Aren’t grandchildren the best? 🙂 Between my husband and me we have 7 grown children and 11 grandchildren. The majority of them live in Florida and we live in the Atlanta area so since it is a 9 hour drive I don’t get to see them as much as I would like so I treasure every moment that I do spend with them. There is nothing better than hearing an, “I love you Memaw” or getting those sweet little arms wrapped around you in a hug! Like you, I have been through quite a few trials and tribulations and I too didn’t understand the “why” of such things happening to me especially as a new Christian. Those times are when I grew the most in my walk with the Lord so every moment was well worth it. My mantra for years has been “This too shall pass” and so much so to the point that I told my husband that I should have that on my headstone lol. I pray that you have a wonderful, relaxing and very blessed day!!

It’s a blessing to read your Sunday blogs. You uplift me and show verses that I need to read and keep with me. I’m so glad I was introduced to your posts. Happy Sunday 😊🙏

What an uplifting post to start my Sunday morning. First…yes, grandchildren ARE the best and wouldn’t it be nice if all of us took the time to look around like Brooklyn did and enjoy THAT moment. It was nice she made that happen for you. If you would have said to guess what she picked…make-up brushes would not have been what I thought of first. You..grandma..must be an inspiration to her. How old is Brooklyn? Our granddaughter will be five in April. And your comparison of nudging Brooklyn to God nudging us…what a great reminder. I so loved reading this morning, even a couple of times, because it was such a good reminder to me not to ask “why” and remember that God answers prayers in HIS own time and way. So glad you are all feeling better. Have a relaxing Sunday. Ours will be a lazy day with maybe finding a movie since it’s snowing outside.

Thank you for this post. Like you it was just last year when I fully understood the power of God. I have always believed but last year I learned to leave it all at the foot of the cross! What a difference that has made in my life! No more do I worry about what people say to my face or behind my back.
And as far as grandchildren I only have one grandson he is 8 his name is Bentley. What a joy this boy has brought to our life’s! We get him almost every weekend too….and I have been down the toy isles many times!! Love your blog just started following you. I found you from 50 is not old blog.
Hope you have a great week!
