Chignon Updo Made Easy

Happy Hump Day ladies!! I don’t know about you girls, but I am having a hard time letting go of the “Christmas” vacation and downtime. I have been doing really well with my New Years Resolutions – I’m happy to say. Still hitting the gym and eating healthier…well, that’s all I’m doing well in. HAHA!

I take that back, I am getting my house organized and boy am I feeling this clean, organized vibe I got going on right now. I guess where I am failing is working my business as I should. My goal was to post daily in the blog and put more hair and makeup tutorials up on YouTube. I seriously got to work on those things! I can’t use the excuse “life gets in the way” anymore.

I was talking with a friend today about coloring my hair; she was thinking about coloring her roots on her own. I color my own hair, I don’t think I have gone into a salon and got color since I was about 34 years old. I only color my roots and pull color through to a few pieces all around my head. I don’t suggest doing your own color unless you have some knowledge of color and how it works. But…honestly if it’s just coloring your roots, it’s not that hard and it’s very easy to do. I think I’m going to do a video of how I do that…what do you girls think?

Today I want to talk about an updo that is cute and easily achieved. The Chignon! I like to call mine the “Messy Chignon”, it’s a super quick and easy updo and great for second-day hair!

What you are going to need for this updo is an elastic band, hairpins, texturizing spray, such as Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray and a wide tooth comb for rough teasing. A great comb is the Swissco Tortoise Perm Comb Wide Tooth. Great for lifting hair from the root to dry and to give some lift after blow drying. Or you can use it for rough teasing for the sides after curling your hair.

If your hair is not as thick as it used to be and you find it hard to do updos other than a ponytail, try a few of these products. They have helped me over the past few years, my hair was very thin and limp-I had to find a way to get thickness back in. I started using Biolage Advanced Full Density Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner to go with it, this will help a lot. I have been using these products together for well over two years. I started taking Vitafusion Biotin 5000mcg gummies every day! Do not skip a day- you will see your hair start growing and getting thicker very quick. I wholeheartedly give this product 2 thumbs up!! Plus they are gummies -YES! The last thing that I use every time I wash my hair is Redken Diamond Oil Glow Dry – I use it mainly on my ends to help stop split ends. This helps reduce blow drying and prevents breakage.
