Relationship Goals

Good Sunday afternoon to all of you ladies! I hope last week was great and this week is even better! I have sat down to write this post about three times and I keep coming back to a common theme. It has nothing to do with fashion or beauty tricks.

If you have read some of my very first blogs then you know my life has had some major twists and turns. I have been through things that I never want to experience again, but because of the storms in my life, it showed me that God was always there and swooped in just when I needed him.

At times in life, we find ourselves in situations that we can’t see a way out or even fathom how we are going to make it to the next day. But somehow we persevere and go on. I am a firm believer that God allows things to happen in our life to teach us lessons or to urge us to call on him for help.

Sadly, a lot of us only want to communicate with God when things are bad in our lives. We are praying for help, we pray that God changes the situation, we pray that God moves in our lives quickly. When things are good we tend to “forget” about the Lord. Sometimes we don’t take time to talk to God or pray to him on a daily basis, when in reality that is all God wants from us. He wants a relationship with each one of us – not just when we need him.

Reminds me of my own kids at times, they have their own lives and don’t seem to remember Mom until they need something from me. I personally do not like it when my children “forget” me lol! My son was transferred to Texas a few years back with his job and the communication line was not as frequent as I would have preferred. I gave him room and let him settle into his new surroundings, I certainly thought he would be blowing up my phone since this was his first time away from home and it was a long way from NC to Texas!

I was certainly wrong!! That boy was doing his thing and mommy wasn’t in the picture on a day to day basis. It hurt my feelings, but I knew he had to grow and learn to stand on his own. He called when he needed something or when he started getting homesick, but it wasn’t the same as when he lived with me. It was hard to let go and trust he’d be ok, it was hard seeing him go from dependent to independent.

After pondering on this the past year since he moved back to NC, I realized over the years I have treated God like this in the past. I decided in 2019 I would be more faithful in my prayer time and start having a better and closer relationship with Him.

I have no clue why I have been pushed to write about this – maybe I needed to cement this is writing or maybe someone else needed to read it. Whatever the reason, we can’t go wrong with working on a spiritual foundation with the Lord.

Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

These words are true and trust me, this is a promise you can stand on. No matter what is going on, good times and bad times – he is there and acknowledging him on the daily will only strengthen you and build a firm foundation in your faith.

Who knew I’d be taking you girls to church today huh? Surprising me LOL! I will close this out, we have Brooklyn and it’s a gorgeous day – bout to take her to the park to have some fun! I hope you girls have a great Sunday and a wonderfule week!
