Take Your Hair From Blah to...Muah!!!

Good morning ladies! Happy Hump Day!! This week is just zooming by, but somehow I am staying on course and keeping organized. Finally! I had a few emails and messages lately from women asking me how I get fullness in my hair, so I thought I would share.

I blew my hair dry only, I used my fingers to fluff it up ONLY. I never use a brush to pull out any volume my hair maturally has. Once it’s dry, I will then curl it with a 1 1/2 inch curling wand.

I wash my hair about 2-3 times a week, usually, about twice, this actually helps retain your natural oils in your hair. This will help keep your hair from breaking off and it actually helps prevent split ends. I also am a stickler about taking Biotin for my hair. I get mine from Amazon, VitaFusion Biotin Gummies 5000mcg, I don’t really care for pills so I get the gummies.

Another product that really helped with keeping my ends from breaking is Redken Diamond Oil. I apply this to my ends when I wash it. I only apply it to my ends, but you can use it all over if desired. It helps reduce split ends and trust me, it works! It’s actually called Redken Diamond Oil Glow Dry and you apply it before you dry your hair. It’s a style enhancing blow-dry oil applied to hair before heat treatment to reduce blow-dry time and prevent hair breakage.

I also have found that if I use a root booster, I have more volume around the crown of my head. I section my hair off where I want the lift and spray Big Sexy Hair Root Pump Plus Humidity Resistant Volumizing Spray Mousse. After I work that in, I blowdry my hair with my head flipped down. I lift the roots on top of my head with a comb and dry the roots all around the crown area of my head. This gives your roots a boost of volume. Always dry your hair, if you want volume, the opposite way it grows or lays.

Once I have dried my hair then I start the curling process and for some reason, I LOVE curling my hair. It takes me about 10 minutes to curl it and I always curl my hair for loose waves. Watch the video below and you will see how I turn the barrel of my wand (horizontal) to give me volume at the roots and loose waves.

Once I’m done, I tousle my curls at the roots just a bit. Fix my side bangs the way I want them and spray with Kenra Volume Spray 25. FYI – that’s the best holding hairspray EVER!!!! I’ve been using it for about 15 years and I haven’t found anything that even compares to it. And girls, I tried a lot of hairsprays out as a hairdresser not to mention all the freebies I get to review. Kenra is the BEST!

I hope this post gives you some ideas of different things you can do to get more volume in your hair and waves if you are looking to wave it up some! This technique can be used on chin length hair to very long hair. My hair is about to the center of my back and the curls hold all day! For second day curls, I brush it out and redo my curls around the crown of my head and my face. I have found that if I curl my hair, that night I will twist my hair until I can put it in a low bun and pin it to go to bed. The next morning I still have curls so all I need to fix is the top part.

Extra Tidbit!!
